Desperate Housewives – Damn the scarf!

The end is near! The penultimate episode undoubtedly rebounded from last week's dull installment and set the pace for the two-hour series finale next week. So, did anything interesting happen? Well, you'll just have to find out!

- Season 8, Episode 21 - "The People Will Hear"

Well, well … it’s nice to know that the writers of Desperate Housewives know a thing or two about delivering a good episode. After last week’s dull installment, I was beginning to have doubts concerning the finale of this blissfully scandalous series. Those doubts have now been quelled. It was business as usual last night on Wisteria Lane with a few new developments on the horizon. Perchance that’s something to get excited about!

Let’s start with Susan. It’s a pity that Teri Hatchers character is being given such a bittersweet ending, but her story has provided some sentimental elements in the final half of the season. This episode wasn’t any different. After learning that Porter still has some things to figure out in his life, it seems Susan is now moving off Wisteria Lane to assist Julie with the baby… not that I can say that I blame her. That’s one street that you couldn’t pay me to live on. The property values should be as small as the little fellow that Renee was terrified of last season. People bury bodies on that street.

Speaking of which … Bree has to be the nicest person in the world for going to court in order to cover up for Gabrielle. She’s risking her reputation and she’s fighting with her attorney. Hell, I wouldn’t fight traffic for Gaby. She’s just too selfish. I thought she’d have a change of heart at the end of the episode and come to Bree’s aid, but the only thing she turned up with was a damn scarf to offer her condolences to Bree. Um, say what now? This has to be an all-time low for Gabrielle. Her selfishness knows no bounds.

Elsewhere, Lynette continued to annoy me. Try as I might, I just cannot root for her. I mean, the woman is just perpetually unhappy and she continues to meddle with Tom. Wasn’t she the one who said she felt relief when they split up? I digress. After using Tom’s boss to meddle with Jane, Lynette began to have regrets. It’s such a shame that Tom has now been fired after punching his boss for calling Lynette a bitch. What’s more is that Tom now realizes that he loves Lynette. Oh, brother. To complicate this, Tom also now believes she’s with another man. That was a nice twist … a bit aggravating, but nice nonetheless. I think Tom deserves a good woman. I think Lynette needs therapy.

But what do I know? I just write reviews for CliqueClack.

And what good reviews they are! Anyway, before I end this, I just want to give a shout out to Christina Chang as the district attorney that was busy grilling Bree in court. Was she pretty and assertive or what? That woman needs to do more television. Anyway, the final episode of Desperate Housewives is set to air next week. Sheesh. How surreal is that? I’m still in denial. So, what pressing questions do we have to ponder until next week? Well, for starters, will Gaby let Bree take the fall for her? Will Carlos go to prison? Is Susan really going to move off Wisteria Lane? Will Tom and Lynette get back together? I sure hope not. And is Katherine moving back to Fairview? She was shown in the preview, and I, for one, couldn’t be more excited! Sound off in the comments below!

I loved this episode, if only the writers had made most of the episodes as good and interesting as this one for the entire season, now the show’s almost over

Victor, you and I are of the same opinion. Still, this season has been thoroughly entertaining. The positive outweighs the negative. I’m looking forward to Bree’s trial.

Jay, I agree with you piece. In fact I like the way the writers have decided to end the show. My girls of Wisteria Lane will truly be missed. #TeamScavo
