Desperate Housewives – Act like a lady, think like a damn man!

Those desperate broads are back, and just when you thought it would be interesting to return to Wisteria Lane ... well, sadly ... it ain't. The episode was practically a snoozefest, but it was good to have the ladies back, right?

- Season 8, Episode 20 - "Lost My Power"

Desperate Housewives

After nearly a month long hiatus, the ladies of Wisteria Lane finally returned last night in an episode that wasn’t exactly stellar. Oh, well. With only one more installment left before the two-hour series finale, I suppose we’ll have to take what we can get. So, did anything interesting happen with our favorite broads?

Uh … well, Gabrielle and Carlos continued to fight as usual. This time they competed to secure the finances of a wealthy old broad, five-time Emmy award winner Doris Roberts, with capital. Gaby wanted her as a client while Carlos wanted her as a financier for his charity organization and … blah, blah, blah. In all honesty, it was just the same damn thing that this couple goes through in every episode. Here’s a question for you — have Gaby and Carlos become predictable? Their storyline is getting a bit tired.

Speaking of which, Lynette continued to annoy me. Thanks to her constant plotting and scheming, Tom is being forced to work in India. You know, I really hope he goes through with the divorce. The man needs better. Lynette should be single, and for that matter, so should Bree. I mean, goodness gracious! How many men is Bree going to fall in love with? Now it seems she’s head over heels for her attorney … but didn’t we see this already when she was in love with Karl back in season six? You’re getting sloppy, writers!

I was pleased to see Renee finally discovering that Ben was keeping a secret from her about his involvement with Alejandro, but I was bummed when he didn’t come out and tell her. However, it was a nice touch to see her stand her ground and demand to know when they were married. Renee’s awesome. The same can be said about Susan who’s really stepping her game up to fill the void left by Mike’s death. I liked seeing her try to build a soapbox car for her son … and then turning to the men of Wisteria Lane for assistance. That was nice. However, I’d now like to take this time to say something — I know MJ is sad that his father is dead, but is that any reason to be a jerk to his mother? Seriously? I didn’t care for his attitude towards Susan, and quite frankly, if she tore a switch off a tree and took to his behind, I’d simply look the other way. I’d like your thoughts on that.

So, while it wasn’t particularly the best episode … it did kind of … oh, who am I kidding? This episode really wasn’t one of the best. Note to Desperate Housewives writers: let’s step it up, folks! As usual, we’ve been left with some questions to ponder! For starters, is Tom going to go through with the divorce? Will Carlos ever really change? Is Bree really going to get another boyfriend? Yawn. And will the ladies ever be able to fully put this whole Alejandro nonsense behind them? Hell, I hope so. Sound off in the comments below!

There are only two more episodes of Desperate Housewives and I agree with you, Jay, that the writers need to step it up. This is the last year for the show and the writers need to have the finale to be a BANG!!! Last nights’ show was okay. I think Lynette needs to leave Tom alone and go back to her boyfriend. By the way, what happened to him. He just disappeared. I am hoping that the episode before the final episode is better.

Keep up the good work, Jay.

Not explaining what happened to Frank was downright lazy. It really was. I don’t think we’ll ever get an explanation.
