Burn Notice – Management problems

Martin Crane is back! Or John Mahoney if you prefer. The sliver-haired fox known only as “Management” returned for a second straight Burn Notice finale and it would appear he has big plans for our favorite spy guy, Michael Westen.

Meanwhile, badass Simon turned out to be a letdown. He blew up a food cart and a helicopter, shot a minion and got schooled by Mikey. For someone with a rep for mass destruction, he didn’t seem to be the brightest bulb. Oh, well. Not all of Mike’s rivals can be winners.

So, what exactly became of our hero? Let’s discuss.

Okay. Simon’s nasty file was dumped into Mike’s. This angered Simon, who used to be Management’s boy. Therefore he needed Mike to reach Management in order to regain his life as a vindictive murdering rogue operative. That’s great, but who the hell shifted Simon’s file to Mike’s?

Management seemed shocked when Mike told him he and Simon were hanging out. Was Martin Crane lying? If not, then whoever played switcheroo with the dossiers must be the same person responsible for burning Mike. Right? Either that or Management was playing both Simon and Mike in order to bring Mike back into the fold to begin his “big future,” which means Management could still be the one who shipped Mike to the hinterlands.

I still say the ultimate puppet master has yet to be revealed. Maybe he or she will be the one who greets Mike in that well-furnished room he was sitting in at episode’s end. And where is this room anyway? In a gulag? Some remote black ops site? The place where Morpheus met Neo in The Matrix? I dunno. June can’t get here fast enough.

Here are some other quick observations:

• Mike’s definition of a spy: “You’re a criminal working for a good cause.”
• Don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone hotwire a Jet Ski.
• Where does one purchase liquid nitrogen?
• That was one convenient garbage tube attached to that building.
• Maddie saying, “Mike paid for her mistakes.” Interesting.

I’ll leave you with this to ponder. What if somehow someway Maddie was behind Mike getting burned? Just so she could reconcile with him after years of separation. Gotta run. See you in June.
