Grey’s Anatomy – Are Cristina and Owen over?

Which one of the Seattle Gracers failed his or her boards? Does it matter? This episode smacked of being filler as it barely advanced any of the storylines forward.

- Season 8, Episode 21 - "Moment of Truth"

Was it the resident whose marriage is on the rocks who failed the test? The one who had the stomach flu? The one who lost her virginity and was afraid that Jesus now hates her? The one who flew back to Seattle Grace because his intern’s preemie was dying? The one whose lucky pencil snapped in half?

Good grief. Does any of this seriously matter? If any of them fail this important test, does it really mean that they can’t just re-take it at a later date? I find it hard to believe that if one of them has a bad day, an illness, an emergency, whatever, that they can’t get a do-over, so the alleged high stakes of this test didn’t feel all that dramatic. It was faux dramatic. If George O’Malley could rebound from his poor performance on an intern test, then certainly his former fellow interns could get a second shot, even though O’Malley did prematurely meet his maker.

While the fifth-years were in San Francisco, the Owen-Teddy feud reached epically silly proportions to the point where the welfare of a patient was compromised by their childishness. With Cristina being the only thing they have in common, other than the fact that they both work at Seattle Grace, they are likely headed down one of two roads: They’ll make up and come together to support Cristina or will draw together should Owen and Cristina break up. The cold war between them is due to thaw out right about now.

That leaves the larger question to ponder: Will Cristina and Owen reconcile? Cristina was clearly laying the groundwork to forgive her straying husband when she defended him to Meredith, but I think the fate of this couple depends more upon what happens with Sandra Oh’s contract, much like George’s fate was tied up in real life, behind-the-scenes drama between TR Knight and the Grey’s Anatomy brass.

The McSteamy-Lexie thing … this has been drawn out. To. Death. I don’t care one bit about this couple. The heat, the compelling drama is completely absent from this thread. However Meredith and Cristina’s relationship, including whether the BFFs will be geographically separated by virtue of where they work, is the much more intriguing, dark and twisty dynamic.

Also disappointing, how matter-of-factly Richard treated the decision to sleep with Catherine. Not that I think Richard was wrong — Adele, in the throes of Alzheimer’s, is finding comfort in the arms of a fellow patient — but I think his character would’ve been more thoughtful and emotional about getting into bed with another woman, particularly in light of his checkered history of stepping out on his marriage. His poignant depiction of being the spouse of an Alzheimer’s patient called for more reflection than Richard afforded to this sexual opportunity. That being said, it’s refreshing to see characters in their 50s and 60s being shown in the sack amidst the landscape of horny twenty- and thirtysomethings gettin’ busy. I’d like to see more mature depictions of seasoned characters leading full lives.

What do you Grey’s fans say, will Cristina and Owen reunite?

Christina & Meredith’s interactions with each other are the only reason to keep watching this show. I actually really like Lexi’s character also, but she has nothing to do but moon over Mark and have really weird brother-in-law conversations with Derrick.

I really think it’s time for the show to wind down, especially if Sandra Oh and/or Ellen Pompeo leave.

Since it has been confirmed that Sandra Oh/Cristina Yang is not being killed off on the season finally and she is seems to be trying to forgive Owen I think they will get back together. I hope they do, they have an amazing story and it would be horrible if that ended. I mean seriously how could Cristina dump the guy who pulled out her icicle?
