Casting Clack – Grey’s, Lost, Supernatural

With its “Casting Clack” post, CliqueClack brings you a summary of the TV casting news released throughout the week, be it the addition of a series regular, a new recurring cast member, a guest star, or even someone making a cameo.

Be warned, the casting news after the jump may contain slight spoilers about the roles the actors will play.

This week, we have casting news for the following TV series: 30 Rock, Chuck, Desperate Housewives, Fringe, Grey’s Anatomy, Lost, Reaper, Supernatural and The Big Bang Theory.

  • Yet another famous person will guest star in an upcoming episode of 30 Rock! This time it’s CNN’s Larry King. The latter is said to play himself in a scene with Tracy Morgan’s character. The scene was shot on the set of King’s talk show. [Source: TV Week]
  • Battlestar Galactica‘s Tricia Helfer will cause some chaos in Chuck’s life when she joins the NBC show Chuck later on this season. Helfer will play Special Agent Alex Forrest, an agent assigned to Chuck’s case when The Powers That Be notice how close Chuck and Sarah are. Not to worry, Sarah is not going anywhere and Helfer is not said to become a permanent fixture on the show. However, producers say that Tricia Helfer could return to the show. • In other Chuck casting news that will have an impact on the Chuck/Sarah relationship,  Jonathan Cake will appear in a multi-episode arc as a British MI6 agent who catches Sarah’s eye. As you can see, Sarah and Chuck’s relationship will hit a few bumps. [Source: The Ausiello Files]
  • Expect a few laughs when Jeff and Lester are in charge of the Buy More hiring process in episode 15 of Chuck. They’ll try to hire more hot babes and Sports Illustrated swimsuit cover girl Brooklyn Decker may be one of them. [Source: The Ausiello Files]
  • The Scavos better be on the lookout, because grandmama is about to make a return! Stella Wingfield, who played Lynette’s mother in previous episodes of Desperate Housewives, is said to reprise her role for at least two episodes this season. As TV Guide mentions, it wouldn’t be surprising if Stella comes back to Wisteria Lane to offer support to her family through the “who set the fire ordeal,” since one of the Scavo twins will be the prime suspect. • Now that people from Peter’s past were introduced, it’s time to meet people from Olivia’s life. Ari Graynor will appear on Fringe as Olivia’s younger sister. The actress is set to be in at least three episodes of the FOX series. Her character and her daughter will crash at Olivia’s place for a while. Supposedly, she has man troubles back home, but this being Fringe, it wouldn’t be surprising if said troubles are part of the bigger story. Maybe Peter can console her? [Source: The Ausiello Files]
  • Is Shonda Rhimes planning another “doctor falling for patient” storyline for Grey’s Anatomy? Sure looks like it as Jennifer Westfeldt, who appeared on Notes from the Underbelly , is set to play a patient in a multi-episode arc. No more details are known about her role at this time. Personally, I hope she won’t be part of a relationship with a doctor, as this storyline has been done time and time again on the show (see Ava/Rebecca and Denny for example). • Eric Lange, who recently appeared in series such as My Name is Earl and Numb3rs, will guest star in at least two episodes of Lost this season. He’ll play a character named Marty Jankowsky. Early casting calls described the character as a “very smart and controlling man who uses his fierce intellect as a weapon.” Reports say that he will appear in off-island scenes. Could he be one of the people that can help the Oceanic 6 return to the island? Or maybe he is someone who doesn’t want them to return…. [Source: Lost Spoilers]
  • Desperate Housewives‘ Lupe Ontiveros will play Ben’s grandmother on Reaper when the series returns mid-season. Also appearing in an upcoming episode of the series is Michael McDonald. The latter will play a biology teacher who taught the boys when they were in high school. [Source: The Ausiello Files]
  • Barry Bostwick, John Rubinstein and Richard Libertini will appear in an upcoming episode of The CW’s Supernatural. The episode is titled “Criss Angel Is A Douche Bag” and is said to focus on the world of magicians. [Source: The Ausiello Files]
  • In other Supernatural casting news, young actor Brock Kelly will portray a teenage Dean in an episode set to air on January 29. The episode, titled “Afterschool Special,” will feature flashbacks of the Winchester as teens. Colin Ford will reprise his role as teenage Sam. [Source: TV Guide Online]
  • Another Battlestar Galactica cast member is part of our casting news this week. Michael Trucco will appear in an episode of CBS’s The Big Bang Theory sometime this month. He’ll play a genius who works on a project with Leonard. Since Trucco is a cutie, expect Penny to take an interest in him. [Source: The Ausiello Files]

If you would like all the spoiler information for the second season of Reaper (there’s too much to list here), I have it all organized by episode (we have up to 2×13) here. It’s free, just use the password “broken circle”.
