Man-Teen – Webisode Clack

He's not a man, he's not a teen -- he's somewhere in between. Don't we all know someone like that? Or ... maybe that is you? A look at this new web series from KoldCast TV.

Our former regular Webisode Clack guy, Brett, forwarded me off a link to this new weekly series, served up over at KoldCast TV. From the title and description alone, I wasn’t all that interested in even giving it a look. But, as I’ve often found with webisodes, one can’t simply judge a book by its cover.

Man-Teen is developed by comedian Andy Lazarus, Tony Jones, and Brian Spitz of Take A Bucket Entertainment, and stars a few people you may recognize, like Devon Gummersall (My So-Called Life) and Mimi Kennedy (Dharma & Greg). There are definitely a few other faces I’ve seen before, like Rome Kanda, and Kirk Zipfel, so right off the bat this series has some decent talent to it.

Each webisode is about five minutes long and follows the exploits of Laz (Man-Teen), a 35-year-old guy who basically refuses to grow up. While he’s busy refusing to grow up, he’s doing what he can to get his married friends Sam and JT to embrace the man-teen-ness and ditch the things a responsible, married adult would be doing. Smoking pot out of a kid’s toy, dancing with strippers in a moving truck — that sorta thing.

Right now there are three webisodes available, with more on the way each week. The first webisode was definitely a decent start, but things got pretty ridiculous-crazy-funny in the second, which I’ve embedded below. It’s definitely NSFW (mostly for language), so choose where you watch wisely.

The third webisode, while still funny, was slow for a five-minute video and didn’t get as many laughs out of me as the second did. I think I would have liked it better if Kanda’s character “Shack” was only a one-time thing for the second episode and not a recurring character, since that was what made the second episode so funny. In any case, they’ve got me hooked to watching it each week.
