Rescue Me – Sweet Lou

Lou-Rescue-Me

They are attempting to tie up all the loose ends on Rescue Me. Next week’s finale promises to be a doozy, I think. Last night they put to bed the Franco and Mike story threads. Why the writers dropped Franco’s 9/11 subplot and replaced it with an uninspired boxing angle is still a mystery. He fought a lesbian chick. Yawn. As for Mike’s ridiculous musical pursuits, well… I never gave a shit.

Let’s discuss the stuff that matters. Tommy’s infatuation with Kelly, Lou’s vengeance against Candy and the plethora of alcoholics permeating the extended family of 62 Truck.

Tommy wants Kelly because she offers him a unique challenge. Unpredictable and guarded, she’s a puzzle worth piecing together, at least in Tommy’s warped mind. The dead baby revelation was a bit surprising, but I felt it was too convenient. She pushes everyone away because she’s doesn’t want to care or feel for someone who might end up leaving or dying. Tommy may be able to relate to Kelly, but he sure as hell can’t help her heal. It seems like another “birds of a feather” relationship for Tommy.

Excuse me while I bow to one Mr. Kenneth “Lou” Shea. I actually stood up and clapped while he was putting the screws to that grifter bitch Candy. I knew she was playing him again, but I had no idea he was setting her up. This was one of the most satisfying table turns in recent memory. Bravo, Lou. Bravo. He kicked that thieving wench to the curb. Good riddance. She had a mannish face anyway.

So, it looks like Ellie is a goner. Does anyone care? I mean one of the drunken Gavins was bound to buy it sooner or later. I assume Teddy will go nuts during next week’s finale and probably pour his heart out to Tommy about how living life alone really sucks. Whatever. Anything involving Teddy this season has been a major disappointment. I just hope his presence doesn’t fuck up the last chapter in what has been a terrific season five.

I’d be remiss if I didn’t point out Garrity selling out Mike for the commission on three car sales. Garrity has been my favorite character this year. The cancer, the song and dance reveries, his orange dick and him acting like a complete asshole since his recovery. He used to be just a dullard, but now he’s a cool dullard.

You start the article with “. . . attempting to tie up all the loose ends on Rescue Me.” Does that mean the show isn’t coming back? I haven’t heard anything on TNT cancelling the show. Or are you talking about tying up the loose ends of Season 5? I’ve been watching this show from the beginning and I’ve loved every minute of it, although, admittedly Season 4 wasn’t all that it was cracked up to be. Could I get a clarification on the “loose ends” thing? Thanks.

It will be back for a 6th season. It might be a while before it airs though. At the earliest, fall 2010.

Ah! Thanks for that, Scott.

You know some people say Karma can come back and bite you in the ass? I have a feeling Lou just opened up a Pandora’s Box that isn’t just going to affect him, but the entire Latter 62 crew. It’s great that he finally put the one-two punch on Candy, but . . . I don’t know. Karma is a bitch, and she will have her revenge.

Wow… did I really say TNT. I meant FX. Sorry . . .
