What I would want to see in a Heroes TV movie

Even though 'Heroes' is gone, there is still a possibility of a wrap up movie. Here's what I would like to see in it.

As you most likely have heard by now, Heroes was canceled by NBC at the end of the season. Given the terrible ratings of the show, along with the critical consensus that the show had declined significantly since the first season, it shouldn’t have come as a terrible shock. I know that I wasn’t surprised. When the news broke, there was some talk of a Heroes TV movie happening in order to wrap up all the storylines on the show.

I haven’t heard anything about it lately, so I’m guessing that the possibility still exists. I’ve been thinking about what I would like to see if such a movie does end up happening. With so many characters and so many plot lines, I don’t think the show would really be able to address all these things in two hours, but here is my list:

  • The death of Sylar: I know he was a popular character, but I think the show really made a mistake when they didn’t put an end to him at the end of season one or sometime during season two. The character really got played out and the “now I’m good, now I’m bad,” schtick grew tired. I guess we’re supposed to believe that he finally ended up being repentant at the end of the final season, but I would still like to see him recapture his villainous ways and be put down for good.
  • At least one shocking death (not including Sylar): Over the years so many of the characters have escaped death in ridiculous ways. Frankly, I wouldn’t mind seeing just about any of the heroes wind up dead, but I think at least one meeting a surprising end would help to redeem the show, in my opinion.
  • Something to make Claire stop whining: At the end of the final episode, Claire revealed to the world that super powered people existed. Maybe this was enough to make her stop whining constantly about wanting to be normal. If not, however, please let there be something for her to latch on to to find some happiness, because I don’t think I could suffer through another two hours of her complaining.
  • An opening for a spin off: Come on, you know you would watch a series starring Jack Coleman as Noah, running around the country capturing evil-doing supers. Frankly, I think that show could be a whole lot better than Heroes ever was, even during its peak in season one. Throw in Elisabeth Rohm as Lauren, his partner/sassy love interest and it would be gold! Gold, I tell you.
  • Peter to find some direction: Peter seemed to be searching for himself and meaning in his life through the entire series. Again, this is one thing that I found to be fairly tiresome after a while. I just find it hard to believe that so many super powered individuals would be so devoid of fun. I mean, they have super powers for crying out loud! In any case, I would like to see Peter find himself and some direction.

I didn’t watch the last season or most of the 2nd, so maybe this was already brought up. But how about the movie’s plot being about the search to rid the world of super powers altogether — NO ONE would have them. Everyone’s back to normal. Or, take the other route and fast-froward to the future, where the entire planet is taken over with those with powers. Then a miracle happens: someone is born without powers, and the world is out to either destroy or protect this one person, as it means the possibility of ridding the world of powers once and for all.

I thought Elisabeth Rohm as Lauren was too stiff and robotic in the acting department. I say the best thing Heroes could do would be to not make a movie at all, judging by the final seasons the writers were really miscalculating what would make an entertaining show. I still like a lot of the actors even though their characters just grew more annoying and inconsistent from episode to episode and season to season.

Wow, SNL, I disagree. I thought her and HRG had good chemistry, and a spin-off with the two of them would be fun.

Yeap! I would pay to see that spin-off. HRG and Lauren chasing bad guys would be GOLD, LOL!

As someone who watched, sometimes suffered through, every episode until the boringly bitter end all I want to see in Heroes is it fade quietly away. If NBC and the fans want a movie I certainly wouldn’t knock it. Hell, I’d probably watch it, but I’d rather see a movie to properly end FlashForward instead. That was a show I was never disappointed in even though it really did lack strong characters that you could care about. Another half season might have changed that, but now I’m channel drifting and shall shut up.
