Heroes Live-Blog/Chat: Ink

Well, I have to be honest … Chatting last week with Team CliqueClack and our guests was a little more interesting that the actual episodes of Heroes we watched. Will the third episode of the season rebound? Visit here at 8:00 EST to clack about it with us as we watch Heroes’ latest episode “Ink.”
Will Claire realize there’s more than meets the eye with her new college friend? Will Sylar break the hold that Matt Parkman and Angela Petrelli have over him? Will we learn more about the mysterious Sullivan Bros. Carnival? Will our special guest BabyMattParkman show up to taunt us with his cuteness? You’ll have to come back here tonight to find out!
The top ten returning shows I’m looking forward to this season

Yesterday, I looked at the five new shows that I’m most looking forward to this season. It’s a pretty short list, unfortunately. Heck, I only had one on the “Honorable Mention” list. Thankfully, there’s quite a bit of good stuff returning to the network schedule this season. I could, however, come up with just as long of a list of stuff that I wish was coming back that’s not. I should, as Brett has been known to tell me, “shut up and quit my whining” (my words, not his).
First, a cheat. I know I said that this was about the upcoming TV season, but we cover Web Shows here on the ‘Clack, so I’m taking a (very appropriate) liberty. The third season of The Guild started this week (or last week, if you’re an Xbox Live Gold Member), and I can’t wait. I only found The Guild after Dr. Horrible introduced me to Felicia Day, but I’m glad that I did, as it’s one of the most consistently funny things out there on any medium. The addition of CliqueClack favorite (and my hero as a kid) Wil Wheaton to the cast is only going to ramp things up for the third installment. If you haven’t seen it, head to www.watchtheguild.com right away.
Making television pretty, witty, and gay (for guys)
It is a rather well-known fact that quite a few dudes (one example being our beloved staff writer Brett) think that two ladies doing the nasty is totally hot. It is an oft commented-upon pop culture phenomenon that Hollywood likes to cash in on, from House’s Thirteen (among others — see also: Callie of Grey’s Anatomy, Angela of Bones) gallivanting up and down the Kinsey scale to Katy Perry’s famous debut ode to exhibition lesbianism. It’s titillating (see what I did there? Punny, right?) and edgy to have two girls hook up on-screen, and is counted as a win-win. Not only does it make your show look modern and progressive (usually — it can be and mostly is handed poorly, but at least it’s handled), but it brings in the casual dude watcher who’ll tune in week after week in hopes of catching a lip-lock between two ladies. And yet, very rarely do you ever see it even hinted at that two dudes might also want to do the do with each other.
There are a few good reasons for this. For starters, female sexuality tends to be far more fluid than male sexuality. This means when you’ve got two ladies hooking up, it’s easy to write it off when it’s convenient. It was just a phase, you can say, or, that girl was special to this character, and now she’s found the right man to settle down with and have a million babies. And even if the two chicks do end up in television’s happily-ever-after land, lesbians are the ones that settle down with their sperm donor kids and Subarus. Plus, it’s hot. It’s totally hot. Girls and guys agree it’s hot, right?
And then there’s the distinctly American prejudice against guys being gay. Read the rest of this entry »
My Wife and Kids – CliqueClack Flashback
I was flipping through the channels yesterday afternoon, when I came upon a rerun of My Wife and Kids on ABC Family. Instead of continuing to flip the channels, I stopped. It had been quite a while since I sat down and watched the Damon Wayans sitcom, but they were doing a special episode in the Bahamas, and I do love me a good TV stunt. I was only about five minutes in when I recalled something that I had forgotten: this show is actually pretty funny.
My Wife and Kids certainly isn’t the edgiest series that has ever been on television, nor does the writing set the world on fire. What it is, is a solid family sitcom — and what’s wrong with that? As much as I love it, not everything needs to be Arrested Development. Part of what made My Wife and Kids great is that even though the day-to-day situations were slap-stick and ridiculous, the characters were grounded in the real world.
Heroes: Exposed – Live-blogging/chat

Heroes chat is back! Sorry about the unexpected absence, but I had to move a few states away on very short notice (now those coppers will never find me, see…), so I’ve spent the past two weeks surrounded by boxes and contemplating suicide. But now everything’s okay! And we’ve got a new episode of Heroes!
Daphne is totally being held hostage, so Matt and Peter, who are not nearly as My Two Dads awesome as Matt and Suresh were, set out to save her. Also, Sylar’s still trying to find his bird-watching child-selling daddy, and has new memories about his surely effed up childhood.
Check back at 9pm for the live-blog/chat!
Do we want Hiro to be a ’super’ Hero again?
Ivey’s back Guest-clacking about Heroes again this week….
Hiro Nakamura has been a fan favorite since the very first episode of Heroes. He was the only Hero early on that was excited about his powers. However, it’s this very power that’s been central to to some of the main complaints about the show. Do we really want Hiro to get his groove back? (Yeah, I went there… Sorry.)
Hiro’s ability to travel through time was introduced in the first episode, but it really began to affect the course of the show in the episode “Collision,” where it was a Hiro from the future that traveled back to tell Present Peter, “Save the Blah Blah, Save the Blah Blah Blah.” (That’s a direct quote. You might remember it differently because of the Ad Campaign, but I’m right. Trust me.)
Heroes – Disappointing deaths this season: Two; Blonde girls: Nothing
Ivey’s back Guest-clacking for us again….
Let me first say that I do not believe that Daphne is dead. At least, I think she’s Heroes dead (still alive) and not Lost dead (not alive, but we’ll see them again). I refuse to believe that the first somewhat interesting new character I’ve managed to care for on this show since, well, Elle (and, honestly, Eve before her) has been gunned down for no real reason. That, and I saw an image of her in my BBQ sandwich today, so I know she’s safe.
But, since they keep killing the people I like, I figured we’d play a little game of spin the bottle. Not the version where we manage to get Mohinder and Peter to hook up (Because honestly, they’re meant for each other), but the one where we get to pronounce to the world who we THINK should buck the kicket.
