Wil Wheaton on The Big Bang Theory

Well, well, well … if it isn’t Wil Wheaton playing … Wil Wheaton. In the geekdom that is comic and science fiction, the world in which our Big Bang Theory boys dwell, Wil is up there on his pedestal admired by the masses. Little does Wil know, he has one enemy out there in the world (besides all the bloggers over the years he’s conned out of their Guinness, by telling new bloggers aboard it’s tradition to buy him a Guinness. He’s probably stockpiling them.) But this isn’t about Wil. Wait. It is.

Mad Men has come back, and the slow-burn of the first two episodes is making me completely crazy — in a really great way. Project Runway returned as well, and I begrudgingly watched it, just to find out that it’s just as ridiculous as always. And Wil Wheaton got into a nerd-fight on Leverage. Not bad for the last week of August.

Mad Men returns

Mad Men is back, you guys. Yes, it’s been back for more than just a week, but I’m so stoked about having a new episode tonight. My life is finally complete. The funny part is that, even though fans have been eagerly awaiting the premiere to find out what’s going on with everyone, we really haven’t seen a whole lot yet. Peggy and Pete haven’t really interacted, Joan apparently married her rapey fiance, Roger apparently married Jane — whom we haven’t even seen yet. So much stuff hasn’t happened, but it’s still so exciting. There aren’t any good clips on the Internet, but amc.com has this cool behind-the-scenes video of episode 2, “Love Among the Ruins.”

Felicia Day, and the cast of The Guild

In the world of webseries, success and popularity can be hard to find. Sure, a webseries may have a certain following, but its success may not go any farther than those dedicated fans. That’s great for the folks who write, cast, direct, and produce the series. Yet, deep down, I’m sure they’re looking for a status bump that will propel their hard work to a new, and more diverse, audience.

That’s why The Guild is a rarity in today’s ever growing world of webisodes. With a cast of honed, comedic actors, as well as corporate sponsorship, the show has surpassed expectations and become one of the most popular series on the web. With the start of their third season (which began with an August 25th release on Xbox Live, and continues on September 1 on MSN and Zune), a new music video, and the addition of Wil Wheaton to the cast, The Guild continues to grow. So, the obvious question is: why is The Guild so big? Read the rest of this entry »

“Chaos, I heard you were in jail. I guess I was wrong. ” – Hardison
“Hardison, I heard you sucked. I guess I was right.” – Chaos (played by Wil Wheaton)

Nope, you’re not in the Bizarro World, but you’re close. And that guy Chaos? Not Bizarro Jerry, but Bizarro Hardison … or is that Wil Wheaton? It’s pretty hard to keep track, but I’m sure Eliot didn’t turn into a woman, though Parker may be sporting a hat now….

I can’t tell you how much fun I had watching the Bizarro team take on Team Leverage. And if you were like me, you had the fear, even just for a moment, that Team Leverage just might be bested this time.

You know we at CliqueClack are big fans of TNT’s Leverage. Did you know we really like Wil Wheaton, too? So when Wil landed a guest spot on this week’s Leverage (”The Two Live Crew Job,” airing Wednesday night at 9:00) we knew we’d have to talk to him about it, and I was the lucky interviewer.

I saw the episode already, and it was amazing — so amazing that I’m crossing my fingers for a reprisal of Wil’s role in a future episode (which Wil would completely welcome).

You’ve read my interview with producer Dean Devlin (right?), where I reported an exclusive on the Wil Wheaton hockey scandal of the early ’90s. When I talked to Devlin then, he hadn’t had any contact with Wil since the hockey incident, and now here they are working together after all these years. Coincidence? I think not. I couldn’t help but think I got the ball rolling on this partnership. What did Wil have to say about this?

FOX jumps into the repeat game tonight, now that So You Think You Can Dance has finished it’s summer season. If you’ve been waiting all summer to catch up on some repeats of Lie To Me — and who hasn’t? — tonight is your lucky night!
  • As always, CBS starts the evening out with Old Christine and Gary Unmarried. CliqueClack’s good buddy, Wil Wheaton, is featured in tonight’s episode of Criminal Minds (Brett thought he did a great job playing a killer, and Jane interviewed him about the appearance.) The evening finishes up with an episode of CSI: NY.
  • FOX is finally showing some repeats on a Wednesday night, with an episode of Bones at 8, followed by Lie To Me.
  • NBC has another installment of TV’s Funniest Phrases tonight at 8.
  • The CW has two episodes of America’s Next Top Model. I’m guessing that someone cries in one of these episodes.
  • USA has a full night of NCIS repeats for your viewing pleasure.

Robot Chicken Wesley Crusher

I don’t normally catch Robot Chicken, but since it was airing a new episode last night and I was still riding the high from their awesome Star Wars: Episode II DVD (giveaway in progress until this Wednesday!), I flipped it on. Then there was a skit that I was really, really shocked I’d never heard of before, especially from Wil Wheaton via Twitter. In this skit, the writing for the third season of Star Trek: The Next Generation is about to begin, and they acknowledge the fan backlash over Wil’s character, Wesley Crusher. How to “fix” the problem? Well, you just go and watch and find out.
