Private-Practice-Episode-2x16-Ex-Life-private-practice-3784558-640-399

Tonight has a lot of new TV, including Big Brother and Burn Notice. However, there are some decent reruns airing tonight: there’s a Grey’s Anatomy/Private Practice crossover, as well as some Smallville, Supernatural, and of course, The Mentalist. Enjoy!

  • Diamonds are forever, but in the case of Jimmy and Chloe, sometimes they get you kidnapped by an insane jeweler. CW reruns the “Committed” episode of Smallville at 8:00.
  • I don’t really like Private Practice, but I do love crossover episodes: At 9:00, Grey’s Anatomy is airing “Before and After,” one of their PP crossovers. At 10:00, the fun continues on Private Practice with “Ex-Life.”
  • Also at 9:00, Supernatural replays one of Debbie’s Virgin Diary entries: “I Know What You Did Last Summer.”
  • CBS keeps on re-running The Mentalist. See how Simon Baker earned his Emmy nomination when they air “Seeing Red” at 10:00.

(Season 1, Episodes 1-3)

1×01 “Pilot”

“When you fight, you have to be careful not to break the little bones in your hand on someone’s face.” – Michael

It’s lines like this that make me think I’m going to like this series. I’m not sure why, but I kind of expected the first season of Burn Notice to look like crap, production value-wise. Maybe it’s because I spent so much time watching the sadly filmed The Dead Zone, but I thought there would be way more obvious-looking sets. Burn Notice, however, looks pretty slick.

The X-Files - "Ice"(Season 1, Episodes 5-8)

I guess after three of four episodes with a “MythArc” element, the creators wanted to relax and go for some fun, non-connected episodes for awhile. So all four of this week’s episodes are of the “Monster-of-the-Week” variety.

5 – “The Jersey Devil”
(Original Air Date: October 8, 1993) The most disappointing thing to me was that the people from 1947 didn’t speak like 1940s movie stars. “What you got here, see, is da Joisey Devil. What’s it to ya?” You have to say it fast, and yes, that’s how I picture everyone in the ’40s sounding.

(Season 1, episodes 5-10)

I wrote earlier about how I’ve gotten over my aversion to potheads and have started watching Weeds. I enjoyed the first part of the season, although there were a few things that bugged me and the first five episodes left me with several questions. I’ve finished the second five episodes of the first season and this is where we stand: None of my questions have been answered, but I am officially hooked.

Here are my thoughts on the second half of season one:

Nancy still doesn’t seem to be making enough money, so she tries to expand her empire. One of the ways she does this is by starting to sell at the local college. This is funny to me mainly for how it comes about. Nancy goes on campus and apparently sees hordes of students just openly smoking pot on the quad or whatever. First of all, I call bullshit. Again, I don’t care if they are in California, there is no way that 80% of the students who are outside are just randomly doing drugs out in the open.

the-librarian-noah-wiley1Week of January 4 to January 11

Clever, insolent, creative, irreverent; even a little twisted. I speak of the writers here at CliqueClack, and the unique posts they churn out day after day. How could we let seven days go by without highlighting some of the week’s gems?

TV’s back, baby, and so are we! Sure, we had some great content during the winter hiatus, but with actual new programming on this week, we were utter clack-a-holics.

It was a week of firsts, which I suppose is fitting with the new year and all.
