This thing looks like that thing on the Grey’s Anatomy season finale

After last season and Gizzy-Gate, I had all but given up on Grey’s Anatomy. This season, though, it pulled me back in. So despite my better judgment, I was totally sucked in and looking forward to this season’s finale. I’ve got to say: I wasn’t disappointed.
I’ve long hated the make-up break-up cycle between Meredith and Derek, so it was nice to see them committing themselves to each other. I enjoyed the new turns the Christina/Owen relationship took, and even Izzie’s brain tumor. It was nice to see George actually somewhat back in the story with his big decision. I liked just about everything about the finale, but I couldn’t help but thinking, as I watched it, that it seemed kind of … familiar.
ER – 15 years and 24 hours later

That, as they say, is that.
With nods to both the past and the future, ER completed its 15-year run on Thursday night. It was an evening of something old (the return of numerous show alumni), something new (the introduction of a new generation of docs), something borrowed (a few homages to the very first episode) and something blue (uh, their scrubs). It was an uneventful episode that told of a fairly typical day at County General.
As series finales go, it was just okay. It didn’t have the power of a Battlestar Galactica or the disappointment of a Seinfeld. It was a bit long and somewhat boring, except for the end. I know you all want to express your opinions, but I just want to highlight a few of the things I, and those who were on our live chat, noticed during the last episode.
ER – Finale live blog and chat

Doctors and nurses, we have come to an end of an era. After 331 episodes, and the same number of cast changes, ER comes to an end this evening. Being that we are a nation that now needs to comment on absolutely, totally everything I thought it would be a good idea to open up a live chat to discuss the events of the show as well as past ER stars who decided to show up for the end.
For now, consider this an early discussion location. But, check back later this evening for a spirited, and probably teary-eyed, back-and-forth on the last episode of ER ever. Remember, it’s a two-hour event starting at 9:00 PM EDT.
The dead docs of ER
As the very last season of ER winds down to a close it’s time to reflect on what has happened over the last 330 episodes. The one thing that comes to mind is death. Lots and lots of death. Not just the deaths of patients, nurses, helicopter pilots, ambulance drivers, tank drivers, convenience store owners, and anyone else that came within 100 feet of the ambulance bay. No, I speak of the many deaths that have befallen the diagnosticians of County General.
More doctors have perished inside and outside of this hospital than in a normal, real-life, emergency room. Some have been dignified, others have been surprising, and there has been one that people are still mouthing ‘WTF?’ about everytime they see a repeat of it on TNT. Let us now take a moment of silent reflection to remember these fine physicians.
Episode 330 of ER – Always look on the bright side of life
Second to last. When you’re being picked for a kickball team, second to last is a good thing. When you’re talking about the end of a long-running series, second to last is not something you want to happen. Unless you’re one of those folks who thinks ER should have ended 13 seasons ago. For you, second to last means a time to rejoice.
For the rest of us, this week’s installment has begun to make us teary-eyed as we realize that it’s all about to end. It’s hard not to get emotional. Many of us have grown up with the series and can track the changes in our life with the changes that took place within the confines of County General. Needless to say, it was probably a roller coaster ride in both cases.
Maybe that’s the reason the producers and the writers of ER gave us one of the most positive episodes of the series in history. It was a thanks to all of us who have gone through the trials and tribulations of this Chicagoland hospital.
Gee, that Neela-Ray reunion seemed awfully familiar
When you have a show that runs as long as ER, certain plot points end up being rehashed from time to time. This is logical; if, in the 15 seasons the show has been on the air, you had only one instance of a child abuser, or a drug addict, or a crazy guy with something up his butt the emergency room would be an awfully dull place. But, that’s just for patients. Rehashing is verboten when you’re dealing with important story threads for major cast members.
Or is it? In the latest episode of the series we saw a plot point that seemed awfully familiar. Particularly to those of us who have watched the series since its inception.
Ratings Clack – Heroes finishes 6th in its time slot!?

It was an odd week of television. The current sweeps period continues to cough up odd nights of repeats. This time, NBC took Monday off, to disastrous results. In not quite as disastrous news, the mid-season debuts continued, as ABC premiered Better Off Ted and NBC finally gave us all a look at Kings. On the happier end of the scale, the CBS Monday comedies were all up, the Idol reign of terror continued, and it sure looks like we won’t have to put up with The Chopping Block for much longer.
