Grey's Season Six Cast Photo

Last year’s season finale was … you could say intense. Izzie’s season long battle with cancer looked to be coming to an end, as she was flatlining after surgery, the Chief and Bailey fighting to save her, despite the DNR she’d signed (if I continue to do Grey’s posts here at CliqueClack, I’ll have to call Webber by his name … In my television watching world, there is only one “The Chief”). Her best friend George was also in peril, as most of the rest of the staff was working on him moments after discovering that the heroic John Doe they’d been working on was their friend.

I’ve seen the first episode of the season, and I lived to tell about it (and tell you who else may, or may not have, lived). Let me lead with a warning, because BIG HONKING SPOILERS AHEAD! I’m going to tell everything … up to and including how the world ends, so if you don’t want to know, turn back now.

I’m serious. Stop reading now.

After last season and Gizzy-Gate, I had all but given up on Grey’s Anatomy. This season, though, it pulled me back in. So despite my better judgment, I was totally sucked in and looking forward to this season’s finale. I’ve got to say: I wasn’t disappointed.

I’ve long hated the make-up break-up cycle between Meredith and Derek, so it was nice to see them committing themselves to each other. I enjoyed the new turns the Christina/Owen relationship took, and even Izzie’s brain tumor. It was nice to see George actually somewhat back in the story with his big decision. I liked just about everything about the finale, but I couldn’t help but thinking, as I watched it, that it seemed kind of … familiar.

Entertainment Weekly’s Michael Ausiello is reporting that Grey’s Anatomy star T.R. Knight has asked to be released from his contract. Network representatives have not yet officially confirmed this news. However, reportedly, the details of George’s departure are being hammered out.

I haven’t been able to stomach Grey’s since the beginning of Season two. So, I have to admit I am happy to see further cracks in the show’s ice: First, Kate Walsh’s departure. Isaiah Washington’s shameful behavior. And then the mysterious firing of Brooke Smith (aka Dr. Hahn). I am happy for Kevin McKidd’s gig on the show because I like McKidd so much — not because I am a fan of the show.

“I’m exhausted, but if you wanna hop on and do all the work … ” – Sloan to Callie, who just wants someone to listen about her relationship issues with Erica

Well, kudos to Derek for seeing the error of his ways! I was ready to punch him through the TV set when he told Meredith that she had a lot to learn as a surgeon. I’m like, where is this coming from?! Is he so self-involved that he doesn’t recognize that “The Shepherd Method” was actually her idea?

But all was forgiven (by both me and Meredith) when he arrived at the bar with the kidney-in-a-jar gift. Aw, that’s so sweet. And I totally get that because my mom was an E.R. nurse and likewise fascinated by surgical stuff (while we all gagged).

“I’ll be in the clinic putting stupid band-aids on people who don’t have the balls to get real injuries.” – Cristina

Once again, I wonder how the heck Seattle Grace keeps running. It’s one thing to have interplay among the doctors, but it’s quite another when you involve the well-being of the patients. Grey’s Anatomy has a history of WTF moments in this regard, but the show isn’t meant to be a caricature of a hospital. It’s supposed to be a real hospital with real doctors and patients.

So here are my WTF Moments of this episode:
