See Jane Clack – Is Willow a lesbian? Is The Bachelor a Bastard?

This week, I’m a-clackin’ about everything from The Bachelor to Buffy (yes, again). Read on, and add your own clacks in the comments.
Is the Bachelor a bastard? I haven’t even watched The Bachelor this season, but I sure heard all about the shocker finale last week. Without knowing anything about it, my feeling is he should follow his heart. And if he realized he chose the wrong girl, then he needed to make it right, rather than everyone being miserable until the eventual divorce. What do you think?
Gross commercials just turn me off. You’ve probably seen the commercial with the girl riding the bicycle, her freakishly long armpit hair flying back into some poor guy’s face. I have no idea what they’re selling, but whatever it is, I’m not buying. Why would a company be so horrendously dumb as to create a commercial that makes me want to change the channel? If there are any ad people reading this, please clue me in!
Whoa … don’t tell me The Bachelor really did that! In a topsy-turvy grand finale show, Jason went out with a bang. Or, perhaps he’s just lucky no one had a shotgun. The finale of America’s Best Dance Crew was certainly much more predictable and satisfying.
Then there’s Coach from Survivor. What the heck is going on there? I don’t know. I’m just happy to see sort of normal folks running The Amazing Race. Heck, even the kids on American Idol aren’t as wacky as some of the full-fledged adults we’ve been seeing as of late. Hmmm … Tatiana and Coach, a match made in heaven?
Ratings Clack – Maybe Dollhouse needs a Taylor Swift guest spot

It certainly worked for CSI this week. And, really, considering the way the Fox Friday is hemorrhaging viewers, I don’t think they should rule anything out. Once again, both Terminator and Dollhouse were down. They shared bad news with Chuck, Heroes, and Life On Mars. Reaper, Lie To Me, and Jesse Stone found themselves somewhere in the middle. Good news this week went out to Brothers & Sisters, The Bachelor, and CSI. Read the rest of this entry »
Reality Clack – Celebrity Apprentice, Survivor, The Bachelor, Amazing Race, American Idol
I used to be a huge fan of The Apprentice back when the show was new and fresh. I’ve never been a big fan of Donald Trump, but I enjoyed the concept and the candidates. But then the show became more predictable and the candidates a bit more iffy. George and Caroline left and the Trumplets (Ivanka and Donald, Jr.) took over their duties. Nepotism, I say! Then came the disaster in Los Angeles which marked the end of the regular series.
Last season we were treated to The Celebrity Apprentice and I got hooked on the show all over again. So, it was a no-brainer that I’d be watching again this season, especially when folks like Joan Rivers, Dennis Rodman, and Clint Black are on the show.
Ratings Clack – Oscars up, Dollhouse and Heroes down

It was a bit of a strange week for ratings. The Academy Awards (36.31m/12) sent most of the Sunday lineup into repeats. And the Obama address to Congress mixed things up on Tuesday, shifting Idol to Wednesday and Thursday. That, of course, had a ripple effect throughout the ratings. Elsewhere, the new FOX Friday suffered another drop that now calls into question whether or not we will even see the final episodes of Terminator:TSCC. Read the rest of this entry »
Reality Clack – Survivor, American Idol, The Amazing Race, Hell’s Kitchen
I think this is my favorite time of the year for television. I have new scripted shows I enjoy like Lost and Heroes, but I have my reality television fix in, too. I need my reality fix. While I enjoy fiction, I’m also a people-watcher. And, what better medium is there to observe people than reality TV shows? Sure, I could just go sit in Washington Square Park and people watch. But it’s winter. My living room is much warmer.
Before you tell me that reality television isn’t really real, need I remind you that the way different people react in different scenarios is quite real indeed. With scripted shows, I can’t really find people I love to hate as I know it’s all the writers’ doing anyhow. Ah, it’s much different with reality shows! We see warts and all. I love it.
Ratings Clack – A Dollhouse drop makes things interesting

(2/15 – 2/21)
Ya know, it would be great if I could sit down to my beloved Model M keyboard and type about the fantastic ratings that Dollhouse was getting. 10 million viewers… a demo in the 4s… already picked up for the fall… Great, but probably not as interesting as the actual numbers are turning out to be. Despite CBS being in repeat mode Friday night, Dollhouse still suffered the expected week 2 decline. And those lower numbers make the whole situation all the more dramatic. They make the coming week feel very much like the one that just passed. The numbers really need to go up, the sooner the better. Elsewhere, good news for The Bachelor and Lost, bad news for Chuck and Heroes, and some puzzling results for the OG CSI. Read the rest of this entry »
