Supernatural – Sam and Dean discover the anointed one

The team over at Supernatural HQ threw us a bit of a curveball this week. As “I Believe The Children Are Our Future” started, it seemed very much like another standalone episode. And one with a comic bent. When the stories children believe started to become real, I couldn’t help be reminded of a certain suicidal teddy bear. Things were not what they appeared to be, though, and our story took a decidedly darker turn with the appearance of Castiel.
This wasn’t another goofy standalone at all. Instead, it was a bigger picture episode that could have far reaching effects as we get deeper into the war. Read the rest of this entry »
Diary of a Buffy the Vampire Slayer Virgin – Cordelia and Calendar in; Master out

(Season 1, Episodes 9-12)
If the girls in my high school were allowed to wear dresses and skirts anywhere near as short as Buffy’s generally are, I think I might have flunked a few times to stick around longer.
9 – “The Puppet Show”
(Original Air Date: May 5, 1997) Damn, I should have given Whedon more credit. When Sid the ventriloquist’s dummy started talking I was all “Oh great. Another possessed dummy story. I guess it took Buffy awhile to find a unique voice. God, how many times have we seen this.” Heh. Yeah. Well–
What a great twist on the cliche. There was also some brilliant misdirection. Armin Shimmerman will always be Quark (Star Trek: DS9) to me, though I’ve seen this buttoned down side of him on Boston Legal before. Once Sid was cleared, my finger pointed at Quark.
Diary of a Buffy the Vampire Slayer Virgin – Hyenas, cyberdemons and Angel revealed
(Season 1, Episodes 5-8)
With the format pretty well established, it’s time to get into learning some more about these crazy kids and their even crazier world.
5 – “Never Kill a Boy on the First Date”
(Original Air Date: March 30, 1997) Oh Buffy, Slayers don’t have time for love! It was funny watching her get all beside herself over Owen. It must be difficult for the Watchers to have to deal with teenage girls as Slayers. Talk about distracted! And about Owen. Are there really teenage guys out there who are that … decent? He’s so freaking nice and sweet and wow — it’s just so weird to watch. I guess they wanted to create the ideal guy for Buffy to not be able to be with to make it even harder.
Even worse is that I can totally relate to Xander in this episode. I helped a guy I knew hook up with a girl I had a huge crush on … and I had a Daffy Duck watch. But it ran backwards … because he’s crazy! That’s cool, right?
