The Forgotten is forgettable … except maybe for the pilot’s ending

In case you haven’t heard yet, Christian Slater has decided to give television another go by starring in ABC’s upcoming drama, The Forgotten. The premise is this: a group of experts led by Alex Donovan (Slater) — who are not law enforcement, though work with them (think Bones) — assist in figuring out the identities of “John Does” (or Jane Does) by way of a bit of detective work, crime re-creation and forensics. It’s their hope that, by discovering who these “forgotten” people are, they can help lead to an arrest or, at the very least, give a sense of resolution to loved ones. In fact, it’s that resolution that may motivate them over anything else.
Overall the pilot episode did nothing for me. There’s little to no chemistry between the people in Donovan’s team, and for a pilot episode we get very little background into who these people are, what they are like and what drives them (well, a little bit of that last bit, but just a morsel). There are opportunities to throw a little fun into the show, but they are never used, and there’s a sad lack of suspense so far. Where things really got interesting, and perhaps excuse the lack of character depth, is how the episode ends, though I may be reading into it all wrong.
Lost in Lost – Spoilers pouring in from Comic-Con

Lost in Lost has been absent for a while now during the very quiet off-season, but with San Diego Comic-Con in full swing this previous week, radio silence was broken and a ton of little spoilery tidbits have been rolling in. If you’d like to go into the final season completely fresh then stay away. Certainly, there isn’t anything Earth shattering in this information, but they are spoilers none-the-less. I am, however, dying to talk about some of them.
Harper’s Island once looked much different

First let me start out by saying that there will be quite a few potential spoilers in this post. So, if you’re not interested in learning a bit about what might happen later in Harper’s Island, you may want to tread carefully.
I say that there are “potential” spoilers here because, as you will soon find out, this show’s changed quite a bit since the original screener came out sometime last year. Out of any screener I’ve seen in the past few years or so, I don’t believe I’ve seen as many major casting changes as there were with this show. So, with the cast changed so much, who knows what’s happened to the story, since it looks as though most of it had to be entirely re-shot!
House spoilers abound – if you don’t like spoilers or virgin vampires, skip this
I am not going to post any spoilers in the first paragraph of this post, just in case your eye strays. You’ll have to read the full entry if you want the goods. And if you do read the entire post? Please don’t complain that there are spoilers because THERE ARE SPOILERS ABOUT HOUSE IN THE REMAINDER OF THIS POST!
I can totally understand not wanting to know anything about what happens. Believe me. I am more curious, however, than I am cautious. I know what happens on the last episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and I haven’t seen beyond season shree of the show. Some of us are completely illogical that way. I don’t fully understand it either. But I’ve prattled on enough now. You’ve been warned. Read on for the spoilers. Read the rest of this entry »
Secrets of a former spoiler-holic – Guest Clack

Michael Hinman is the founder and site coordinator for Airlock Alpha, a science-fiction site that is part of the BlipNetwork. I’ve met Mike at a couple of events in the past, and I asked if he’d like to write something up for us. I’m happy he chose to write on the subject of spoilers, because it’s one I still struggle with today.
For the longest time, Feb. 10, 1997 was a special day for me, and it’s hard to believe it’s been more than 12 years since that time.
Worf and Garak are captured by the Jem’Hadar while looking for Garak’s old intelligence boss (and soon-to-be-revealed daddy) Tain. It was an OK episode of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, a two-parter that started with “In Purgatory’s Shadow,” but an episode that would stick with me for a long time.
Through the course of events, we learn that Tain and even the Klingon Martok are not the only Alpha Quadrant prisoners there. Also being held was none other than Dr. Julian Bashir.
As the guards brought him into the cell, dressed in the uniforms that had just gone out of style, my chin was completely on the floor. That meant this whole time, at least the last few episodes, the Bashir on DS9 was not Bashir, but a Changeling.
This wasn’t the greatest twist ever. Hell, it wasn’t the greatest twist on DS9. But it has a special place in my heart because it would be the last time in more than a decade that something would happen on a television show I enjoyed without me knowing about it first.
Guess who made Idol’s top 36!
Isn’t it strange that for people who supposedly hate American Idol, Vote For The Worst has some of the most comprehensive information on its contestants? I would argue that they actually love the show in their own way. They can be pretty mean, but then again, so are the judges!
Anyway VFTW, along with Idol blog Joe’s Place, have put together a list, through various tips they received, of season eight’s top 36. So, here I’m going to share with you some of the contestants that I’ll be watching for once we reach the voting rounds. Do I need to say it? Spoilers, spoilers, spoilers! If you don’t want to know, stop reading now!
Lost in Lost – Season 5 Preview
Brothers and sisters, I have seen the future … and it is good. You’ve probably seen the reviews of the season five premiere all over the interwebs over the past few days. I was also lucky enough get to see the first two episodes of the upcoming season. I don’t want to spoil anything, but I do want to let you know that they are totally worth the wait. Season five promises to move at lighting fast speeds. Well, lightning fast for Lost, anyway.
I was thinking that this season was going to focus on the Oceanic Six trying to get back to the island, with the finale finally seeing them return. Now, I’m not so sure. Rest assured, answers are given, and as always, more questions are posed. Would you have it any other way?
