The Shield Money Train cash

As was always with The Shield’s Strike Team, they were a group of guys I hated to love. They were dirty cops, bending the law to their own purposes and outcomes, using their badge — their “shield” — as a means of protecting themselves from the scum on the street, and from being pinched by the very organizations they served. Yet, as the second season worked towards its finale, I found myself rooting for Vic, Shane, Lem, and Ronnie. I wanted to see them victorious.

The Shield’s second season was all about the Armenian mob’s “money train,” and the corrupt Strike Team’s plan and execution to reap in that big pile of blood-stained cash. Blood-stained not physically, but in the death that came both before, and after, it came into the team’s hands. By the time season two ended, I was more hooked on The Shield than I’d ever been, or will be.

(Season 7, Episode 13 – “Family Meeting” – Series Finale) The Shield - The Shield, Season 7 - Family Meeting

I’m still shaking from the scene in the bedroom. I don’t give a shit if you think that’s spoilery and you haven’t seen the episode. If you saw it, you know what I’m talking about. If you didn’t, well what are you waiting for?

I thought I knew what Shane was up to when he was at the store, buying the flowers, the water and the toy for Jackson. I just didn’t want to believe it. I still don’t want to believe that that’s how that chapter of this story ended.

I guess it all depends on how you look at them. Our Halloween-themed posts, that is. Are they tricks, designed to possibly fool you, like Jane’s Halloween headlines I’d like to see, or Jackie’s When good characters go vampire. What do you think — did House finally really get murdered? Did the cast of The Big Bang Theory go vamp when we weren’t looking?

Maybe you just need a treat this Halloween, like many of the fictional characters in Bob’s post, Halloween treats for some deserving characters. I mean, don’t we all deserve a trip to Tahiti as much as Sarah Connor? You may or may not want to visit some of the houses that Jason did in his post, Trick-or-treating in TV town. Jack Bauer isn’t the most festive guy…

  • The Laut Family competes for a cruise and tickets to a Hannah Montana concert on the second isntallment of the traveling game show Opportunity Knocks on ABC. MyNetwork TV’s Street Patrol tackles people who scalped Hannah Montana tickets … okay, I made that last one up. It’s just more idiots trying to dodge the law.
  • The weight loss competition continues over on NBC’s feel good The Biggest Loser, while the feel-good family drama of ABC Family’s Lincoln Heights continues it’s ten episode run. And the whirlwind romance of Gavin & Stacey on BBC America leads them to the altar tonight in the first “series” finale. “Series” two starts next week.
  • Brenda and Kelly continue their limited run on 90210, as Annie and Adrianna get an opportunity to work on an indie film while Debbie prepares to shoot a fashion show on The CW.
  • On CBS’s NCIS, a navy lieutenant’s suicide may have larger implications and connections. Also digging up more dirt, only this time on his own team, is House on FOX’s megahit. And the case of the week involves how drugs have distorted an artist’s vision. Where was Dr. House when Dali was painting?

ABC’s “National Stay at Home Week” continues tonight as they offer up the series premieres of Opportunity Knocks and the continuing series premiere of Dancing with the Stars. CBS offers up season premieres of oldies favorites NCIS and Without a Trace sandwiched around new show The Mentalist. Now I know this is going to be hard to believe considering we’re talking about CBS, but The Mentalist is a new crime procedural show. It’s nice to see the Eye breaking new and innovative ground with their programming!

  • Remember when Charlie Jade was on during prime time? Yeah, that didn’t last. This bizarre sci-fi series from the other side of the world was apparently just too odd to connect with American viewers. Still, it’s odd that Sci Fi put it on in the middle of the night rather than just drop it altogether.
