Sons of Anarchy's Gemma (Katey Sagal)When I got done burning through the first season of Sons of Anarchy this summer, the fine folks at FX were kind enough to send me the first episode of the second season, to whet my appetite for what was to come. At least, that’s how I want to imagine it. Never mind that they sent the same thing to other critics around the world. I’m special!

When we last left SAMCRO [SPOILER ALERT if you haven't watched season one but are still reading this for some reason], the gang was at Donna’s funeral, and only Jax and Piney knew why she was really in the ground. This set the stage perfectly for the Sons of Anarchy to implode from within, and as the new season begins to unfold, it looks like that’s exactly what’s going to happen.

(Season 2, Episodes 12 – 15)

Just when I thought Supernatural couldn’t get any better… wow. In this batch of episodes, I was treated to crazy story arc stuff including more “murders” on Dean’s long rap sheet and Demon Sam. Bobby’s back, being amazing, and a couple of one-off episodes delivered deep and funny stuff.

If I haven’t said it before, I’m really beginning to resent current television for interfering with my Supernatural viewing schedule. Bring on the summer hiatus, please!

Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles

Aren’t two part episodes supposed to have a big cliffhanger? I mean as compelling as watching Jesse shift the lamp on her end table, it isn’t exactly going to be haunting my dreams until next week. Yes, the interesting flashback (or is that flashforward?) did have more to reveal, but did that warrant a “to be continued?” I suppose it’s a very small thing, so I’ll stop griping.

It was nice to see Weaver again, wasn’t it? I hadn’t realized how much I missed the creepy red-headed terminator. She seemed almost giddy over the progress of John Henry. It got me wondering if all that progress is going to go anywhere this season, or if we’ll have to wait for next season to see any Weaver/Connor/John Henry confrontation. I’m certainly optimistic, aren’t I? Some may say delusional….

Season 2, Episodes 9 – 11

Supernatural continues to please; I gotta say, there’s not too much to be dissatisfied with in this series… so far, that is. Even Buffy let me down during some seasons.

But the writers have taken their cues nicely from the actors, and their brotherly banter shows their true friendship as well. We’re going deep with their characters too, and what motivates Dean to kill so easily, and what makes Sam worry about himself and how it affects their actions. All while providing a captivating monster of the week and then some… and by some, I mean a story arc that intrigues, with just enough to keep us interested but not to give too much away, either.

Terminator: The Sarah Connor ChroniclesWell, it seems like Cameron may still be a bit broken. I fear, and I think she does too, that it may go a little deeper than her hand twitching. Summer Glau was extra robot-creepy this week. In particular, the shot of Cameron slicing her wrist open to get to her twitchy parts was quite disturbing.

It seems like Cameron’s programming is getting a little twitchy, though, not just her hand. There were several times when she asked, “what am I going to do with you?” and I think that she was honestly confused. She didn’t know how to react to the bird that she had caught or to Riley. It’s going to be interesting to see how (and if) Cameron continues to break down and whether or not John will ever have to face using his nifty little pocket watch destructo-button.

burn-notice-finale

Damn! Where do I start? The season finale of Burn Notice had a little bit of everything: fistfights, car chases, shootouts, multiple explosions and a high body count. Whew! Sounds like a Will Smith action flick, eh? I was beginning to wonder if the writers had it in them to produce an action-packed bloodbath without sacrificing the show’s signature sarcasm. Well, color me impressed, because last night’s season two swan song was – as the kids are fond of saying – the BOMB.

Right off the bat we discover that sultry spook Carla was once burned herself. Really? Now she works for an elusive government group known simply as “management.” That’s just the tip of the iceberg, folks. Turns out Carla is more of a ruthless bitch than we first imagined. In order to recruit Victor into her stable of black ops assassins, she murdered his wife and son and burned him, all in the same day. Quite a gal. Easy to see why Victor wants her six feet under. What wasn’t clear was why Carla was so eager to vanquish Victor. Good ol’ Vic was smarter than I gave him credit for.

Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles

They don’t call the show The Sarah Connor Chronicles for nothing! The past few weeks have certainly reminded us that this is Sarah’s show. Lena Heady carried this episode. Heck, she had too, she was practically the only person in it. Since Terminator has returned from (a way too long) hiatus, it has focused a lot on Sarah. I love Lena Heady as Sarah. To be honest, she’s my favorite part of the show, but even I’ve had enough at this point.

It’s time to see what’s been going on with Jesse and Riley. It’s time to give Cameron something to do, perhaps some asses that she can kick. It’s time to go deeper into the John Henry/Ellison/Weaver story. As much as I love mopey Sarah, it’s time for something else.
