The Transformers – CliqueClack (for older) Kids
Let’s continue our occasional series on animated robots of the 1980s. In the first part we discussed Challenge of the Gobots, which was a less than stellar example of the transforming robots genre. This time around we’ll talk about the Greatest Robot Cartoon Ever Made! I speak of The Transformers.
You may not believe this, but the original (and greatest) Transformers series premiered twenty-five years ago! No, your eyes aren’t deceiving you. It’s been a quarter of a century since you rushed home after school to forego your homework and watch Transformers (as well as G.I. Joe and Voltron) before your folks came home from work. With the current Transformers movie raking in the big bucks at theaters and the 25th anniversary Transformers season 1 DVD set currently available, now is the perfect time to talk about these “Robots in Disguise”. Transformers: Animated Series: Season Two – CliqueClack Giveaway
If you lived through the Transformers era, you’ll get the joke when I say that this giveaway is more than meets the eye. All my life, I’ve been surrounded by Transformers in one incarnation or another. My brothers watched the animated series and had all the original toys: Optimus Prime and the whole gang.
Now, my four-year-old was gifted his first “transformer” this Christmas: Luke Skywalker turns into a snow speeder. Naturally.
You’re in luck if you’ve been a Transformers fan for a long time, because Cliqueclack’s got three copies of Transformers: Animated Series: Season Two to give away to three random commenters to this post. Just leave a comment telling us why you’d like to receive this DVD set.
CliqueClack Presidential Election: Vote today!
Hey everyone, happy election day! If you’re anything like me you’re excited and thankful that election day has finally come. Just think of it: in a few short hours we won’t have to see any more political advertisements on the TV! Well, not for a couple years anyway. I’ll take it. I need any break I can get, and I don’t even live in a swing state. I feel bad for all you folks in the hard fought “battleground” states. I can’t imagine the kind of commercials you have to deal with. You have my sympathies.
In any case, I hope everyone who can goes out and votes today – and not just in the presidential election. There’s an election going on right here at Clique Clack too. If you haven’t noticed, we have nominated a worthy group of TV characters that we feel would make a great president: Laura Roslin, Rupert Giles, Optimus Prime, the Head of Richard Nixon, Jed Bartlett and John Sheridan. The poll is running through the day, so make sure you vote and let your voice be heard! Check out our election post HERE.
Make sure you check back later to see who you elected. We won’t have hours of coverage or fancy electoral maps (though I’m guessing you will get you fill of that elsewhere tonight), but we will have a post announcing the winner.
CliqueClack Presidential Election – It’s Voting Time!
If you’ve been keeping up, you know that here at CliqueClack, we’ve been nominating some of our favorite TV characters for president. With that silly actual election a week away, we figured it was time to start the voting for CliqueClack president. Be sure to vote. You have a civic duty here. Plus, there are no pesky age minimums or citizenship requirements to vote in this election.
The poll will be open for one week, until election day on November 4th. Let’s quickly review all of the nominees (and you can click on their names for more details)….
CliqueClack Presidential Nominations: I now present Optimus Prime for president

Now, for CliqueClack’s next presidential nominee ….
Breathe a sigh of relief, Ladies and Gentleman. We are only a few short weeks away until we go into the election booths, vote for the next President, and then regret the decision we’ve made for the next four years. Or, so it has gone in the past. In addition to the candidates selected in our standard two-party system, there are a number of other fresh new faces on the ballot that could really help jump start this country on the road to economic security, energy freedom, and the destruction of all Decepticons.
I speak of none other than Optimus Prime, the one true leader of the Autobots. And, I’m not talking about those fake Optimi that have been part of various reincarnations of the Transformers cartoon over the last few years (especially the newest version. Blecch!). I’m talking about the one, true Optimus from The Transformers series of the mid-1980s. This is the man … er, robot … that will turn this country around. Ah, I see some doubting looks about this candidate (yes, I can see you through my computer … don’t ask me how). Let’s take a look at Optimus’ qualifications before making your choice.
