The Closer – Brenda vs Raydor, round 2. Brought to you by the G1

Some of our more recent acquaintances were back to play this week. Captain Raydor (Mary McDonnell) was once again causing all manner of headaches for Brenda and the team. And the team was getting an assist from our new pal Mikki Mendoza (Paola Turbay). One of those characters had a whole lot more to do than the other. I think the title of the post gives that answer away. As uneven as those parts were, it all worked out rather well. Captain Raydor is annoying, and a distraction to the team, but her machinations are not without their own purpose. That’s something they did a much better job exploring in the second go round. The Closer – Brenda Leigh vs President Roslin

Two of the recurring season five themes on The Closer were on display again this week. As with the previous episodes, this one also brought a nice bit of guest casting with the appearance of Mary McDonnell as Captain Raydor. In addition, it also presented yet another department for Brenda to create some bad blood with. If you’ve been playing along with the home game, it’s no surprise that Brenda came out on top. But you have to wonder … are all of these confrontations adding up? And is this all going to come back and bite Brenda in the end? Read the rest of this entry »
Should Grey’s Anatomy’s Dr. Dixon be a doctor?
Well, I always knew there was such a thing as hug therapy. Now, according to this week’s episode of Grey’s Anatomy, I know it’s also a medical treatment. Or at least, that’s what Dr. Dixon says, and I believe it.
Somehow, the sight of Bailey and Cristina hugging it out with Dr. Dixon to bring her vitals back to normal was both funny and sort of heartbreaking. I can definitely appreciate the hugging; need some of it myself every day.
But I’m still perplexed that Dr. Dixon has achieved her current rank and status. I’ve dealt with doctors like her — with zero bedside manner — and they’re awful! I think tonight’s episode hit a little close to home because a doctor much like Dixon once told my husband he wouldn’t last six months. That was five years ago, and he’s now healthier than most of the human population.
Grey’s Anatomy – Alex tells Izzie he loves her
(Season 5, Episode 10 – “All By Myself”)
I really loved this episode of Grey’s Anatomy. For one thing, it became clear that Izzie is either 1) seeing the ghost of Denny (because no one else can see him, but they can see her talking to an invisible being); or 2) she’s dreaming it up, because in reality she loves Alex and can’t bring herself to admit that because she’s afraid of losing him, just like she did Denny.
That second theory isn’t mine. It’s Alex’s, and I think he’s on to something. But what a guy. He says he’ll be there for her no matter what. And “if you wanna be scared, that’s ok, just be scared with me.” What girl could turn down an offer like that? I practically breathed a sigh of relief when she showed up to assist on his solo surgery.
