(Week of December 1, 2008)

Hey, kids! It’s time for a quick round-up of highlights from this week’s episodes of The Daily Show and The Colbert Report. It’s been a long break, and it feels good to be back. What’s up with those guys needing such a long break anyway? It’s painfully selfish of them to spend time with their families during Thanksgiving or whatever the hell Americans call it. Don’t they know we need snarky commentary on politics to get through the holidays?!

Ahem. Anyway. This week was all right. The sudden drop of election coverage has left a strange void in the writing room, I’m sure, because now we’re getting stuff like “Paging Dr. Mandvi.” That was bizarre, to say the least.

Hey, kids! It’s time for a quick round-up of highlights from this week’s episodes of The Daily Show and The Colbert Report. This has been a pretty solid week, thanks to a handful of beautiful interviews. From people like Sir David Frost of the Frost/Nixon interviews to Paul Simon to Tom Brokaw, both Jon and Stephen have scored four days of guests that really should have nothing to do with Comedy Central. Come on. Honestly.

Hey, kids! It’s time for a quick round-up of highlights from this week’s episodes of The Daily Show and The Colbert Report. The boys are still doing fine, despite the fact that with each day comes another reason to be a little less bitter about the state of the government. That is not to say there aren’t plenty of hot topics, because there totally are. Prop 8 and gay marriage seemed pretty popular this week, and, boy, did people have things to say.

Hey, kids! It’s time for a quick round-up of highlights from this week’s episodes of The Daily Show and The Colbert Report. Stephen Colbert, Jon Stewart and the rest of TDS’s gang did live coverage on election night. Don’t know if you heard, but it was historic. The spectacular was actually only moderately spectacular but still a lot of fun to watch, simply because we were all experiencing the excitement at the same moment. The atmosphere was distinctly different from that of the 2004 live coverage. There was a palpable anxiety and fear in the air back then, and I can remember Jon ripping up his cards in frustration at one point. This time, it was easy to sense that it was less about being anxious and just waiting for the inevitable to happen. Spoiler alert: Barack Obama won.

Hey, kids! It’s time for a quick round-up of highlights from this week’s episodes of The Daily Show and The Colbert Report. For the love of all things good and holy, is the election over yet? It’s super-close, but it still feels so far away. Remember that Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert will be hosting an hour-long spectacular live on election night, starting at 10 PM. I bet that regardless of what happens, at least one of them will be crying at the end of the night. And by “one of them,” I’m referring to myself.

Hey, kids! It’s time for a quick round-up of highlights from this week’s episodes of The Daily Show and The Colbert Report. Can you feel the pressure building as November 4th draws nearer and nearer? I haven’t seen this much tension between audiences and TV since I last saw Videodrome. Points if you know what I’m talking about, double-points if you cringed while remembering James Wood’s new flesh fist gun and tripe-points if you noticed that I only wrote this because I like mentioning Videodrome as often as possible. Videodrome.

Hey, kids! It’s time for a quick round-up of highlights from this week’s episodes of The Daily Show and The Colbert Report. Question: Could we bump the date of the election a little earlier just so we can get it over with? Actually, while we’re at it, let’s just get rid of that economic crisis. I think that would be nice for the country, if we had a break from worrying about something like that. It doesn’t seem like it would take much more than a little elbow grease and a few nice words. Right? Right? No? We’re all going to die? All right.
