matt damon on entourage

What did people have against Matt Damon’s appearance after the end of last week’s episode of Entourage? Well, not him so much as Vince’s stumbling through a spot for the Damon supported charity onexone. People said things like, “Clearly it was scripted, but it’s no fake Vince/Adrian Grenier,” or “Damon really was frustrated with how crappy an actor Vince/Grenier is.” It was a parody, folks, and it was hilarious! And the joke was on Damon.

That was Damon playing his lighter side, same as this week. Yes he believes in the cause, and yeah, I’m betting part of his deal was exposure for the charity, but he was being Matt Damon, star of The Informant!, or his Sarah Silverman video … people need to quit being so negative about Vince, and start appreciating the great character that Grenier has carved out of stone. He’s the typical Hollywood lay-about, springing to attention only when a Matt Damon, when a Bono, when a star bigger than him makes him feel just this big. In less than five minutes, Matt Damon made my night (admittedly, I’m already a huge fan … but, still; that includes Seinfeld on Curb). Read the rest of this entry »

Alexis-Dziena Entourage season 6

I can’t speak to the fate of Entourage without Ari, but the fate of Lloyd without him is a total and complete mess. I really enjoy Rex Lee, but apparently not as a solo artist. Without his abusive and berating boss, Lloyd was a huge drag on the entirety of last night’s episode. Hopefully this schism is temporary.

It did, however, allow us to see a very different side of Drama. He’s always been needy and self-centered, but I think his plea to Ari was pure and sincere; this is his life, and he needs to be represented by someone who truly feels that he’s talented.

Of course, he’s also an idiot, and the “plum” role on Melrose that he gave up his steady gig for is probably some five-minute spot on a random episode that’ll net him nothing. Did he not see the grin on producer Phil Yagoda’s (William Fichtner) face when he mentioned it? I guess we know where Drama’s arc is headed — back to where he was when the series started. Entourage’s stalker de-pantsed

Entourage 6.9 Zac Efron

… And, while we’re at it, stalkee, as well. Not in a million years would you have convinced me that “Jamie-Lynn’s boyfriend” would have been the target of that boxer raid. Do you realize what that means? Those girls don’t even realize that they’re walking around in Vincent Chase’s underwear! I even thought that maybe Turtle was becoming the campus stud, or the studious nerd, but not that they were giggling about breaking into his house. Crazy world.

All of which will hopefully free Vince and the boys of their bodyguards. I’m not saying they weren’t very safe with them around, but wouldn’t the simplest solution have been to have a conversation with them about being more professional? Read the rest of this entry »

gary cole and jeremey piven entourage

Yes, I am a week behind on the boxers front — just the recap, not the episodes — but, nevertheless, it is necessary for us to recount the happenings these last few weeks in order to fully grasp what’s going on with our boys right now.

Vince (and Turtle’s) boxers were stolen out of the laundry room in their house, and, after a foolhardy attempt at gun ownership, they have engaged Ari’s security guy to beef up their defenses.

Eric started working for Murray Berensen (George Segal), and has already butted heads with co-worker Scott Lavin (Scott Caan) over landing big-fish Bob Saget (who, incidentally, is about to have a memoir-worthy sex romp on Murray’s couch). Plus, after ducking Sloan for a week, he’s finally ended things with her. And gotten back with super-crazy Ashley (Alexis Dziena), who will likely eat him in his sleep. Read the rest of this entry »

Entourage crew season 5

Seems to be a fairly popular topic of conversation these days (well, something along those lines). From newspapers to magazines to websites, a lot of viewers and critics are questioning whether or not the boys of summer have it anymore.

In fact, we even had an internal debate about it this week, here at CliqueClack. I’m not sure the transcripts will ever be released, as we spent an inordinate amount of time on Bill Belichick and the New England Patriots – don’t ask – but we certainly got down and dirty with things.

I will share with you what I had to say, as it pertains directly to my opinion on the matter: I think Entourage is fantastic. Read the rest of this entry »

Aryeh S. is back guest clacking for us again today ….

Generally, one would use this type of column to arrive at a conclusion by making points to support a theory. In this instance, I will answer my posed question and then work backwards, so as not to leave you all thinking that I’m crazy: Absolutely Not!

Four years ago, HBO introduced us to movie star Vincent Chase (Adrian Grenier) and his three-person entourage. This group of lackeys and mooches include Vince’s brother Johnny Drama (Kevin Dillon), his manager and best friend Eric Murphy (Kevin Connolly), and his friend and driver, Turtle (Jerry Ferrara). This crew of uncouth 20-somethings from Queens have taken Hollywood by storm, and are ready to launch Vince and his career into superstardom.

(Season 5, Episode 9)

Man, the writers that E represents outta be pretty goddamn pissed when they find out Ed Norton was replaced by … Jason Patric. Patric is definitely a good sport for playing a certifiable nutcase (as is just about anyone guest-starring as themselves on this show), but it’s hard to imagine someone with the acting cred Vince has playing second fiddle in a Jason Patric-headed film.
