I’ve missed Frances Conroy and sad Ruth Fisher since the end of Six Feet Under, so I was excited when she turned up on Desperate Housewives for a multi-episode arc as a crazy old rich lady. Virginia Hildebrand is the kind of desperately lonely person that you feel sorry for, but completely hate at the same time. She makes me uncomfortable, but is still eminently entertaining.

(Season 5, Episode 7)

There were so many great quotes in this episode, that I thought it might be fun to clack it quote by quote:

“You’re Miss Marple with a bum liver.” – Mrs. McCluskey to Roberta

These two are so much fun. They even look like they’re having fun with it. Separately, they’re great. Together, they’re gold. Not sure where the story’s headed, with perverted-Ken-doll’s psychiatrist coming to Fairview. What’s that all about? And I loved it when Karen said, “Well, we really screwed the pooch on that one,” referring to the failed phone call to the psychiatrist.

(Season 5, Episode 6)

Ack! Lily Tomlin, Frances Conroy, AND Gail O’Grady all in the same episode! I’m psyched that Desperate Housewives might be on an upswing. They’re certainly pulling out all the big guns!

Lily Tomlin as Mrs. McCluskey’s sister, Roberta, is perfect casting. Those two are such like-minded droll souls, and I’m excited to see what kind of dirt they’ll bring up on perverted Ken-doll Dave. At this point, his mysterious storyline still isn’t grabbing me. It’s sort of looking like his brother was killed by one of the Wisteria Lane guys who spent time in prison, and now he’s out for revenge. Is that what you all are thinking?
