SmallvilleIn an obvious nod to 28 Days Later, the episode even opened with Clark in a hospital. Yes, I know it wasn’t really a hospital, but Clark was laid out on a table with medical equipment nearby, so close enough. The filming was reminiscent of the recent cult classic as well, and in a good way.

As a mostly stand-alone episode, “Rabid” was extremely well put together. I thought opening the episode with Clark finding Lois in the throes of the infection was incredibly effective. I know it’s a common enough storytelling device in television, but it was still put to good use here. Read the rest of this entry »

If you are a fan of The CW’s Smallville, you probably noticed that the series is more than ever going forward with Clark Kent becoming Superman. Clark is now a reporter at the Daily Planet, he is working with Lois and the bond between Lois and Clark is starting to form.

Smallville has had a way of twisting the Superman mythology and rewriting the characters’ history, and fans have grown to accept it (even if not always agreeing with it). Since the series debuted, fans of Lana and Clark have been very vocal and supportive: they wanted the couple to live a happy ending even if in Superman’s mythology the “Clana” was never meant to last beyond school years. When Erica Durance joined the series as Lois, some fans were enraged as it would not only come in the way of Lana and Clark but it was way too early for Lois to show up in the series. So now that Lana is gone (she’ll be back for about four episodes though) and Lois is a well-established character in the series, is Smallville jumping the shark with Lois and Clark getting closer?
