Maybe you were one of the lucky winners in our previous giveaway of volumes 1 & 2 of this series, or maybe you just already have volumes 1 & 2 on your own. And then there’s of course a possibility that you’re just not interested in the first two volumes and just want these two (I mean, the third volume does contain the Dark Phoenix saga, which is ultra-cool). In any case, here’s your chance to get both copies, together!

Marvel X-Men volumes 3 & 4 are available on DVD starting today, and we’ve got one set (one of each volume) to give away to one lucky, random commenter to this post. Just tell us why you want the set!

G.I. Joe title screen

I was a cartoon watching freak when I was a kid, especially in the early-to-mid ’80s. Two series that stick out in my mind during that time are Transformers and G.I. Joe. It’s not just the cartoons that bring back so many memories of that time. The PSAs. The toys. There was a huge culture around these shows, and there had been nothing like it since the days of when Star Wars action figures were in their prime.

When I saw that Shout! Factory was releasing the first mini-series that started it all — G.I. Joe: An American Hero — I couldn’t believe it hadn’t been released yet. I had to know: does this show stand up to the test of time? Would watching the episodes bring back those memories of my childhood? Do the DVDs include the PSAs?

When I read the premise for the Starz series Head Case, it reminded me of Dr. Katz or maybe a little bit of In Treatment. The show stars comedian Alexandra Wentworth as a psychiatrist who treats celebrities. Head Case’s second season premieres this Friday, the 20th. The show’s first season is now available on DVD, and we’re giving away ten copies — five to random commenters below, five to commenters below who are also joined into our daily email list (seriously, the emails are very short and list what’s new on TV each day, along with a maximum of three links to past day’s posts on this site).

When I first heard about Breaking Bad, I wasn’t really sure I’d like it at all. First of all, it was airing on AMC which, to me, isn’t really known for having stellar original series. Also, the premise about a high school teacher turning to his chemistry skills and a life of making crystal meth to pay for his cancer treatment seemed really out there, especially when it seemed this wasn’t being billed as a comedy. Add to this that Bryan Cranston of Malcolm in the Middle was starring, and I was completely confused … and eventually, extremely curious.

A pleasant surprise, Breaking Bad is much more than what appears on the cover. There’s a deep story here, and while it’s not meant to be outwardly funny, it definitely has its moments. Just look at the cover of the DVD and you’ll see what I mean.
