Quotation Marks – Baiting, Treking, and Abstinence

“Well, I just sent Eddie to the hospital … so lets go steal us a hospital.” – Nate
“If I mention Star Trek One, Three, or Five, then everything’s okay, because the odd ones sucked. But if I mention Two, Four, or Six … What do you do?” – Hardison to Eliot, explaining his “code”

Cal Lightman, Dr. House, Sheldon and Leonard – Daily Rerun Roundup

Tonight in reruns, we’ve got House, Lie to Me, and Emeril Green, among others. Here’s the roundup:
At 8 PM, Fox is running House: The Softer Side. It’s the one where the team tries to decode a patient with both male and female DNA. No, it’s not a reality TV series, it’s House.
Over on CBS at 8 is How I Met Your Mother: Three Days of Snow. Debbie thought the episode sucked. Your thoughts?
At 8:30 on Planet Green, Emeril Green features everyone’s favorite mobster-looking chef Emeril Lagasse talking green foods and other fresh, organic, environmentally-correct cooking tips and tricks. CBS has a repeat of Rules of Engagement: Dad’s Visit.
At 9 PM, CBS has a repeat of Two and a Half Men: David Copperfield Slipped Me a Roofie. Just the title alone makes me want to check it out, even though I’ve never watched a single episode of Two and a Half Men. Fox has Lie To Me: Unchained. I can vouch for this one, because Lie To Me is one of my new favorite shows that’s flying under the radar. It’s the one where Lightman and Torres decide whether a rehab’d gang leader will help fight inner-city violence or return to his own life of crime. They could have used Cal Lightman on The Wire.
At 9:30, CBS has The Big Bang Theory: The Barbarian Sublimation. Jackie learned several lessons while watching this episode, including that she will not seek out the game The Age of Conan, and muffled woofers aren’t a good thing.
Why I can’t watch House anymore
I’ve been trying to figure out why it is I can’t watch House anymore. When the series first premiered in 2004, we loved it in this household. LOVED it!
We’d tune in every week to watch Hugh Laurie’s Dr. House pop Vicodin like candy and see what new insults he’d hurl at his patients and staff. And even though some of the cases were certainly tragic, the writers and actors managed to keep it light and funny, for the most part.
Do you like House on Vicodin or Methadone?

“He’s there, isn’t he?” — Foreman, to Wilson over the phone
“That would certainly explain the inappropriate responses.” — Wilson
I’m not usually one for shaking things up on House — I like the formula and I make no excuses for my tunnel vision and my narrow mind. Tonight’s episode, though, veered from the formula a bit and it worked for me.
The part that worked? House on Methadone. I liked seeing House in a good mood; he was still funny, if not particularly quotable. He still toyed with his team, faking not breathing after his near-miss … poor Kutner.
Quotation Marks – House calls Wilson a Wuss

This week in Quotation Marks, Janis calls Sean a bitch on 24, House calls Wilson a wuss on House, and Amy Sedaris shines as Claire on The Closer. Take a look at our quotes this week, and feel free to add your own favorites in the comments!
ER
“Carter. Aren’t you the guy who got that nurse pregnant and moved to Seattle?” – Tony Gates to Carter, referring to the long-remembered Doug Ross
Psych
Henry Spencer: “I forbid you to be a part of this Shawn. You’re coming with me.”
Shawn Spencer: “Whoa, whoa, whoa. Forbid me? I’m familiar to your hands-on
approach to parenting, but I’m not 27 anymore. I can do whatever I want.”
House needs Wilson to make a diagnosis

“You’re a wuss — part whimp, part puss.” — House to Wilson, because he was going to Cuddy’s baby’s naming ceremony
Could House ever diagnose a patient without Wilson? It seems that the writers at House, for better or for worse, have found a formula that they think works. I’m wondering what you think….
I’m sure you’ve noticed how House finally figures out what’s ailing his patient toward the end of each episode. While Wilson is deep in conversation with House, House is half listening, half thinking about his patient — or should I say his patient’s malady, because House rarely thinks of the human being piece of the puzzle. Something Wilson says triggers a random thought in House and eureka! he’s got the cure.
House – Cameron says yes to House

(Season 5, Episode 13 – “Big Baby”)
Tonight’s episode was almost typical House, but something was just a bit off throughout every storyline. It was as if a writer who never worked on House before wrote this episode solo, because although it was still pretty good, it just didn’t click.
For instance, House is usually so quotable that I am pausing my DVR every few minutes to type in the good quotes. Just last week, I did an entire post full of the House quotes alone. This week, I still laughed out loud, but there just weren’t as many stand-alone quotes as there usually are.
