Supernatural – Oh hello Death

Well Kripke and the gang have left us with quite the doozy before slapping us with a two month wait before a new episode of Supernatural. After a few weeks of episodes that mostly stood on their own and didn’t tread much into the myth arc of the season/series, it made sense that the November sweeps episode would bring the Winchesters and gang right into the thick of things again, and us right along with them.
Supernatural – In which we meet Jimmy Novack, and Sam makes a big mistake

Well, I had all but forgotten that Castiel was inhabiting a vessel in pretty much the same way the demons do. While we didn’t get a whole lot of development in terms of breaking the seals, or Lilith, this week, “The Rapture” is probably going to go down in the Supernatural hall of fame as being one of the most memorable episodes of the season, if not the series. This is mainly because of what happened with Sam in the end, but also because we got to know the man who literally gave up life and limb to do God’s work: Jimmy Novak. Read the rest of this entry »
Supernatural – Sam’s dark side just keep’s growing, and what does Castiel have up his sleeve?

Well it seems that during his off-camera time with Ruby, Sam has been working hard on honing his telekinetic demon-exorcising powers, and tonight we saw the payoff in a big, creepy way. No more nosebleeds and headaches for Sammy, no sir. And now he’s doing some Sylar-esque people flinging as well. Did I mention it was creepy? Poor Dean was a little too unconscious to see it, so of course Sam lied about it later.
At the very least, Dean is starting to bring it out into the open more often. We saw he’s still hurt by what Sam said to him when they were both under the siren’s spell, and Sam is still brushing it off. Read the rest of this entry »
New characters I’m loving this season – Guest Clack

Your guest clacker today is Cate Cropp, a Jersey girl living in Portugal who just can’t give up American TV.
Introducing a new character into a show can be a tricky task. Sometimes they integrate well into the cast and add an interesting new dynamic to a series. Other times, they can fall flat and make us long for those old favorites who have left or been killed off. Here are some of my favorite new characters of the season, as well as those that aren’t quite working for me.
My Favorites
Dr. Virginia Dixon, Grey’s Anatomy
Mary MacDonnell has only been on one episode of Grey’s as a top heart surgeon with Aspberger’s Syndrome, but I’m already hooked. Dr. Dixon is quirky, but believable. In spite of providing some comic relief through her social awkwardness, she’s not a caricature or a gimmick. I think if given the chance, her character can breathe some life into a show that lately hasn’t interested me all that much.
Is Supernatural as good as Buffy?

The CW
Let me just preface this post and say that I will be writing with my head hung low, the burden of regret weighing heavily. Why? I don’t watch Supernatural.
When it premiered several seasons ago, I watched most of the first episode and thought it was pretty good, if not slightly hokey at the end. It didn’t move me enough to give it a second look. And to this day, I can’t figure out why, because I was still reeling from the void of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel both being off the air. What was I thinking?
Now, when I read Brett’s reviews of Supernatural, I find myself wishing I had stuck with the show for a little longer. Brett’s reviews are really well-written, but something tells me even Brett couldn’t spin it so a crappy show looked so damned good. Here are the things about Supernatural that tempt me, and have me wondering if Supernatural would have filled my Buffy void all this time:
