Battlestar Galactica – “All will be answered” … kinda

Well now, this is a little overwhelming. I’ve got three hours of this show — the FINAL three hours — to talk about, and it’s tough to know where to begin. Alright, first, let’s start with the screengrab above. Twenty geek points for anyone who knows who the bearded man is in the picture, minus twenty if you didn’t say Ronald D. Moore. It was only a matter of time before the man made an appearance.
Alright, I know — I’m stalling.
Let me start with what was good, then end off with what was bad. (*GASP!* Yes, the bad).
Jennifer Garner should watch these five shows while breastfeeding
Everybody does it. Don’t tell me you don’t do it. I just did it, and I’m ready to do it again! I’m talking about watching television, of course. And the other day, I was looking at People online, and got roped into looking at a slide show of photos of Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner. Jennifer Garner just gave birth to their second daughter, Seraphina.
That made me start thinking about Jennifer Garner at home with a new baby, and I started wondering whether she is sitting around, breastfeeding and watching TV all day. Of course she is! It’s funny, because when I was on bed rest for a week after having pneumonia, I watched two entire seasons of Alias. I don’t star in my own TV show that she could watch. However, I am sure there must be something she would like. So, I have compiled a list of five shows Jennifer Garner can watch while she is tending to her new baby. Read the rest of this entry »
Notable computers on TV, from Omnitrix to Earth

Computers are my life. Well, a big part of it anyway. And since you’re reading this, chances are they’re a big part of your life too. We use them for work, school, play and everything in between. Then again, you could be someone’s technically unaware grandma who found this printed out on some crumpled up paper used as packing material for your newest Hummell.
Not only are computers part of our lives, but they consume the lives of those we watch in movies and TV. Some of them are as large as cities, some of them talk and have personalities, and some of them even have pet names. Here’s a list of some of the more notable computers on TV (and before you whine, this is not counting robots):
ARDVARC (Get Smart)
The Automated Reciprocal Data Verifier And Reaction Computer is the central computer owned by Max’s employer, CONTROL. Its best friend is a cigarette machine — how quaint for a show of the ’60s. And let’s not forget the lack of political correctness of the time: on episode number 50 (”The Girls from KAOS”), ARDVARC scans its databases for a particular Asian KAOS enemy agent, but eventually concludes it can’t find the agent because “they all look alike.”
Sadly, on episode number 109 (”Leadside”), ARDVARC blows up. Rumor has it the cigarette machine, overcome with grief, traveled to Japan and now dispenses iPods and eyebrow trimmers in downtown Tokyo.

Starbuck goes insane!
Some things you might not know:
1. Dirk Benedict — the original Starbuck and Face from the A-Team — is still alive!
2. He’s a right-winger who is blogging for conservative entertainment blog BigHollywood.com, which is kind of like The Huffington Post except without the Greek accent or the cultural cache.
3. He believes that the latest incarnation of Battlestar Galatica is terrible because of its obvious liberal agenda.
Excerpts after the jump. I’m telling you now as a friend, check them out. It’s like having a conversation about Sarah Palin with your grandmother, except your grandmother is Face from the A-Team!
Week in Clack – Premieres, previews and the just plain weird … and Neil Patrick Harris
Week of January 11 to January 17
Clever, insolent, creative, irreverent; even a little twisted. I speak of the writers here at CliqueClack, and the unique posts they churn out day after day. How could we let seven days go by without highlighting some of the week’s gems?
(If you’d like to receive this in a weekly email, subscribe at the bottom of this post)
TV may be back, but there’s still a lot more to look forward to, and we’ve got the previews to prove it.
- Jen loves Lie to Me; find out why in her sneak-peek.
- Keith previews Warehouse 13’s pilot script with a promising review.
Week in Clack – Firsts, interviews and controversy
Week of January 4 to January 11

TV’s back, baby, and so are we! Sure, we had some great content during the winter hiatus, but with actual new programming on this week, we were utter clack-a-holics.
It was a week of firsts, which I suppose is fitting with the new year and all.
- We broke the news first on the Internet, folks … the successful The Librarian mini-series franchise is coming to the big screen, hopefully to be shot later this year.
- Jason reviewed the first two back-to-back episodes of Scrubs on ABC, and had some good things to say about the transition. What did you think?
- Scott debuted his BBC Babble column, about all things British and on TV, of course. US shows have been greatly inspired by their British counterparts, to say the least….
- Annie debuted her Gossip Girl Virgin diary — OMG!
- Kona debuted Diary of a Weeds Virgin, shedding a whole new light on suburbia for her.
- Damages season premiere was splendidly reviewed by Jane; so glad this show is back and still intriguing!
- My Name is Earl came back, and Bill not only reviewed it, he illustrated his post. You don’t want to miss his take on Jason Lee (or The Odd Couple, for that matter).
- Psych’s first episode of the new year debuted to Brett’s favorable review.
Don’t Lie to Me: are you Lost or ready for some Big Love?
I hate winter. I live in the Midwest where the skies are stained gray for winter, and we never see the sun. It doesn’t snow enough to make the landscape look like anything other than colors all leaked out of a painting, leaving ugly khakis for the grass and a darker shade of gray for tree trunks and branches. So, it isn’t surprising that all I want to do is curl up by my fireplace and watch television, hibernating until it’s safe to venture outdoors again.
This winter, I’m excited about a new show and the return of some favorites. I am also going to branch out and start watching some shows that I haven’t watched before, but am now intrigued enough to try. So, in no particular order, here are the shows that will get me (and my husband!) through those cold, cold nights. Read the rest of this entry »
