Daily Show/Colbert Report – Anne Hathaway hits on Jon, Jon touches kids, Stephen beats Kanye West
(Week of December 1, 2008)
Hey, kids! It’s time for a quick round-up of highlights from this week’s episodes of The Daily Show and The Colbert Report. It’s been a long break, and it feels good to be back. What’s up with those guys needing such a long break anyway? It’s painfully selfish of them to spend time with their families during Thanksgiving or whatever the hell Americans call it. Don’t they know we need snarky commentary on politics to get through the holidays?!
Ahem. Anyway. This week was all right. The sudden drop of election coverage has left a strange void in the writing room, I’m sure, because now we’re getting stuff like “Paging Dr. Mandvi.” That was bizarre, to say the least.
See Jane Clack – Lesbian sex, the cow cam, and those Arby’s commercials

Oh my, the things that made me clack this week! Everything from lesbian sex to a gentle cow cam:
The L Word is borderline porno. I just started watching The L Word, because I’ve heard good things about it, and I need something to watch late into the night while I work (you don’t think I just sit here with my computer 24/7, do you?). Anyway, wow! Those lesbians have a LOT of sex! They’re either having sex, thinking about having sex, or looking for people to have sex with. I’ve watched a lot of HBO and Showtime shows, but I don’t think I’ve seen one that’s as borderline porno as The L Word. I’ll keep watching, though, even though it makes me feel, uh, funny inside.
That Arby’s commercial is way too provocative. While I’m on the subject of sex, it is just me, or are commercials getting way too suggestive these days? I’m thinking of the Arby’s commercial, where the guy is lying in bed while his wife shouts from the other room, “I’m only doing this because it’s your birthday!” Then she comes in bringing a tray of Arby’s food, and the little red Arby’s hat over his head sproings to life. Excuse me, people, this airs during the day when my kids are watching! This isn’t The L Word, for cripes sake!
Ratings Clack – Jack is back, but Rosie won’t be

(11/23 – 11/29)
It really wasn’t a good week for television, for the viewers, or the networks. The holiday had schedules shuffled all about, and actual new content was a little tougher to come by. The story of the week, of course, was the return of Jack Bauer, briefly. FOX let loose with their 24 event movie, and the results were impressive. Having less success with a big event, thankfully, was NBC with Rosie Live. The show tanked, and will not be getting an order of more episodes. Those numbers, the crazy ratings for the DWTS finale, and much less talk about Heroes, after the jump.
