Saving Grace – Grace in danger, but can’t save her friend

I talked last week about how this show takes chances and explores themes that others wouldn’t touch. This week is another example of the same, tackling not one but two brutal crimes, and a couple of sick minor ones along the way. The cast, as per usual, does a great job with the material.
Saving Grace – Hanadarko’s family from a guy seeking revenge

(Season 3, Episode 3)
Saving Grace does family very well, from the family dynamic that has developed in the squad room to the extended family that Grace was born into. It’s the latter that took focus this week, as a criminal from Grace’s past targets members of her family. Church bombings to sniper fire, Grace’s family escapes for the most part unharmed, but one of Father Hanadarko’s (the brother the priest, and not, you know, Grace’s dad) congregation is killed in the blast meant for him.
Saving Grace – Grace does a bad thing to get to a good end

“She’s a Lump” (Season 3, Episode 2)
When I previewed the third season of Saving Grace, I was working with what I thought were the first two episodes of the season. Turns out they’ve decided to run the episode “What Would You Do” later, which I think was a pretty good switch. Tonight’s episode continues the storyline of the Jane Doe that Earl (and Grace) have been watching over, whereas it doesn’t play a major role whenever we see it (Looking at the previews of next week, it won’t be then). As it was a part of the second season finale, and the premier last week, I’m grateful for the change.
The BSG Finale – The religious themes didn’t work for me, but Adama and Roslin did
It’s been quite a journey.
I will admit that I came to the party late, catching up on the first three and a half seasons only six months ago, before watching the final episodes along with my fellow BSG fans. It didn’t take long for me to fall in love with the smart, character-driven drama that worked as a great metaphor to present day current events and big philosophical questions. It was truly science fiction at its best.
Last night was the big finale of the show and expectations were high for everyone. It seems like my feelings are similar to most of the folks out there: the finale was good and satisfying, but it was far from perfect.
