True Blood – The secondary characters shine

“Scratches” (Season 2, Episode 3)
I spent most of last week talking about how boring I find Bill, and how much I love Lafayette. I think what it goes to show is that as much as I like this show, it’s less for the main relationship as it is for all the relationships between the secondary characters (Though I still love Anna Paquin’s Sookie Stackhouse … As Jane said over at TV Squad, “She’s got spunk.”). Producer Alan Ball has done a excellent job crafting these characters and putting them in interesting situations.
True Blood returns with a … fang

The second season of HBO and Alan Ball’s vampire drama True Blood premiered last night, and we were immediately thrust into another murder mystery (It also allowed me to use a ridiculously bad pun as a post title, and how can you turn down that?). Several ongoing storylines were introduced setting up the rest of the second season, as well as a few hold overs from last season. Fans of a particular character have reason to rejoice going forward. I’m excited to see where the season is going, though with one specific exception.
I love the True Blood theme song
I’ve been in a little bit of mourning this week, since True Blood ended its first season last Sunday. As I understand it, season one will be available on DVD May 12, 2009, with season two premiering that month, as well. You can pre-order the DVD through Amazon right now.
While I’ve been in mourning, I’ve had the theme song playing on a tape loop in my head. I decided to investigate and see what I could find out about the song.
According to this Mahalo site on True Blood music, the theme song, “Bad Things,” is a 2005 country music single from singer/songwriter Jace Everett (you can see a video of him singing the song on The Tonight Show here). ![]()
True Blood – Cold Ground
(Season 1, Episode 6)
“Don’t worry. I’m not going anywhere.” – Bill to Sookie
True Blood just keeps getting better and better. It’s the kind of show I’d watch non-stop on DVD, just like I did with Alan Ball’s Six Feet Under — though I admit that some of the bloody scenes gross me out. Like Adele’s body splattered all over the kitchen and the cat lapping up her blood. Or the end scene with Sookie and Bill. Yowza! I kind of saw that coming, but thought they’d probably string it out a few more episodes. Still, I’m glad it happened. I think. Talk about a power couple.
