Diary of a Six Feet Under virgin – So it goes

(Season 5, Episode 12 – Series Finale)
There have been a lot of great finales over the course of television history. I’m not going to make this post a discussion of the best of them. However, one of my all time favorite finales was for Buffy the Vampire Slayer. It wasn’t that it was an outstanding ending, or a really great episode (though I think it was both of those things). It was the fact that it was the perfect ending for the show that made it so great.
This finale for Six Feet Under reached that level for me. It really was the perfect ending for this great show.
Diary of a Six Feet Under virgin – Please pass the tissues

(Season 5, Episodes 9-11)
One episode left of Six Feet Under. I’m saving a whole post for the finale because you all have hyped it up as the greatest finale in all of television history. My expectations are high, folks.
There is some business to attend to before the finale, however. These episodes leading up to the finale have been really heavy, but I love that the show has come full circle. The series began with the loss and mourning of the Fisher patriarch, and it is finishing with the loss and mourning of the de-facto Fisher patriarch.
Diary of a Six Feet Under virgin – Old friends, new lovers

(Season 5, Episodes 7-8)
The number of episodes left is dwindling. I’ve started to ration the remaining installments, trying to stretch out the Six Feet Under experience. With the way these final episodes are shaping up, however, I’m having trouble. I really just want to have a marathon session and watch the last half of the season in one sitting, but I’m not going to do that…. At least I don’t think I am going to do that.
Diary of a Six Feet Under virgin – There’s the Nate and Brenda I remember

(Season 5, Episodes 4-6)
Man, for two people who “love” each other, Nate and Brenda sure like to hurt each other… a lot. This block of Six Feet Under episodes really saw them return to their season one and two form of emotionally kicking the crap out of each other. I went into their renewed relationship with an open mind, hoping that they had changed enough to make it work. After seeing these episodes, though, I don’t know how this relationship can last. It doesn’t stand a chance.
This block also featured each of the Fisher women dumping their mentally unstable men. It appears that this has started the mending of their own relationship, as well, and will hopefully lead Claire away from douchedom, because her attitude is wearing thin.
Diary of a Six Feet Under virgin – What the hell happened to Claire?

(Season 5, Episodes 1-3)
I can’t believe I’m already into the final season of Six Feet Under. It’s bittersweet for me, as I’ve really loved this show and don’t want to see it end, but I’m excited for the finale that so many people have said is one of the best ever.
It turns out that I was wrong about a few assumptions that I made at the end of season four. I thought that Ruth was going to come through for George and be a great caretaker for him. After all, she was attentive to a fault when Nikolai had his legs broken. The situation here is different though, and Ruth is reacting quite differently indeed.
Diary of a Six Feet Under virgin – Season four ends on a low note, a really low note

(Season 4, Episodes 10-12)
Alright, so there is a small moment of hope and wisdom to end the season between David and a vision of his father, but come on, the end of this season was pretty bleak. Let’s summarize, shall we: Nate drives his former brother-in-law to blow his brains out right in front of him, George is crazy, Claire gets coked up at her art show and alienates all her friends, David has to face his attacker, and Rico’s marriage officially comes to an end. Good times.
The penultimate season of Six Feet Under seemed to really fly by. There was one less episode than usual, but it felt even shorter than that. I can’t believe that I only have one season left, but it looks like there may be some interesting things in store for the Fishers come season five.
Diary of a Six Feet Under Virgin – Nate and Brenda, back together again

(Season 4, Episodes 7-9)
The return of Bettina! I hadn’t realized how much I missed Kathy Bates on Six Feet Under until her character reconnected with Ruth in this run of episodes. What a great character played by an even better actress. I love the relationship between Bettina and Ruth. They are such complete opposites that they really compliment each other perfectly. Aside from that, I’m completely in favor of Ruth coming out of her shell, even if Bettina drags her kicking and screaming every time.
These episodes also saw the end of Joe and Brenda’s relationship and the rekindling of Nate and Brenda as a couple. Will it all go bad again?
