Ratings Clack – All she wants to do is dance

The big story this week was the return of ‘Dancing With The Stars’. The show was just a whisker away from ‘Idol’ in total viewers, and propelled ‘Castle’ to a big win against ‘CSI: Miami’. Over on cable, everybody loves Discovery’s ‘Life’.

Ratings Clack – Daylight Savings knows kung-fu too…

Daylight savings kicked in and knocked ‘Chuck’, and a number of different shows, for a loop. Meanwhile, over on cable, premieres for ‘Justified’ and ‘South Park’ set some very high marks.

Ratings Clack – How do you beat Idol? Oscar.

The Academy Awards was the big winner for the week, managing to top the ‘Idol’ juggernaut. ‘Idol’ was still huge for FOX, while CBS had great showings from ‘2 ½ Men’, ‘Big Bang’, and ‘NCIS’. ‘SVU’’s return to 10 PM was a bright spot for NBC.

Ratings Clack – We now rejoin your regularly scheduled programming

With the Olympics out of the way, our TV schedules were once again filled with new episodes. ‘American Idol,’ as usual, clobbered everyone. The week also brought three premieres for NBC and the first new ‘Southland’ episodes on TNT.

TV on DVD – It’s Discovery week at the DVD shop

Discovery takes the wheel for this week’s DVD releases, offering sets from five shows, including ‘American Chopper’, ‘Dirty Jobs’, ‘Man Vs. Wild’, ‘Medicine Men Go Wild’, and ‘Mythbusters.’ And there’s more on the scripted side.

Ratings Clack – The Grammy Awards beat Idol

The Grammy Awards had their best numbers since 2004, knocking off American Idol for the number one spot for the week. Elsewhere, the final season of Lost returned as the number one scripted show in the adult demo.
