Smallville – Metropolis: 28 Days Later
In an obvious nod to 28 Days Later, the episode even opened with Clark in a hospital. Yes, I know it wasn’t really a hospital, but Clark was laid out on a table with medical equipment nearby, so close enough. The filming was reminiscent of the recent cult classic as well, and in a good way.
As a mostly stand-alone episode, “Rabid” was extremely well put together. I thought opening the episode with Clark finding Lois in the throes of the infection was incredibly effective. I know it’s a common enough storytelling device in television, but it was still put to good use here. Read the rest of this entry »
The All New, All Different Girls Next Door – CliqueClack Preview
E! sent along a copy of the season premiere of The Girls Next Door, to prepare me for the actual premiere this Sunday night at 10:30. Unfortunately, while the episode features three all new “girls,” there weren’t any sent with the disc. I could have handled a couple of hot nineteen-year old twins standing on my porch holding my package….
Good lord, did I just say that? What has this show done to me?
In a way, Hef is now the focal point of The Girls Next Door. He and the mansion are the staples that have carried over into this new iteration. But it is called The Girls Next Door, and after five years with Bridget, Holly and Kendra are we ready to meet and fall in love with a whole new set of girlfriends? And do we need two Kendras?
The Amazing Race – Lance continues to give lawyers a bad rep
It’s bad enough Lance comes across as more of a meathead than a lawyer on this show. Knowing that he’s a lawyer, though, means he’s just perpetuating negative stereotypes of the profession.
Yes, he’s strong-willed and competitive, which are good traits in the legal profession, but he’s also treating his fiance like complete and total crap and refusing to own up to his role in any of their mishaps, of which there were many this week. Plus he has the patience of a six-year-old at Disney World. Read the rest of this entry »
It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia – Tough times at Paddy’s
Well, I don’t know what to say. I think It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia is trying to make me look bad. After I go on and on about how Emmy wrongfully ignores this show, they turn around and give me the blandest episode I’ve seen in a long time.
There were some funny moments throughout, and it had all the crazy Sunny shenanigans we’ve come to expect, but overall it just didn’t work. I can even forgive the blatant plugging for Dave & Buster because it was well incorporated into the story. But that’s also where the problem started. Read the rest of this entry »
Fringe – How do you stop an exploding man?

While we continue waiting for Agent Dunham to hurry up and remember what happened in that alternative universe, we get another “monster of the week” story to tide us over. I kind of like Dunham better as a freak in her own right than as the regular lead of the show.
In fact, has anyone else noticed that Peter is basically the lead now? He stepped up in the season premiere, demanding a more pro-active stance on these fringe incidents. Now, with Olivia recovering, he’s essentially leading all their moves and determining their next best move. Read the rest of this entry »
Survivor: Samoa – Russell needs to worry about more than just seeds
I’m pretty sure, based on prior seasons, that an Immunity Idol is an Immunity Idol. That means that even though Russell found the one in Foa Foa that was intended for Galu, it’s still valid should he choose to play it.
Speaking of Russell, though, I applaud the Machiavellian way he’s attacking this game, but he needs to realize that there are bigger things afoot than just planting those Russell seeds.
Going into tonight’s episode, we’re only seven days in and already Foa Foa is down three members. All the control in the world in Foa Foa isn’t going to help much if the tribe is decimated and massively outnumbered come the merge. Foa Foa needs to win.
The Amazing Race – On your mark, get set, go home!

I would love to participate in this show. This show or Survivor I think would be a lot of fun, and certainly an experience worth cherishing for a lifetime. However, if they pulled a stunt like they did tonight and I was the one unlucky enough to be on the wrong end of it, I’d be pissed.
Survivor’s done it already, and now The Amazing Race submitted to temptation to be unnecessarily cruel. At least the rest of these first two legs proved more entertaining than a lot of last season. How can you not have fun with a Japanese game show, mud slinging and duck herding?
But before we could get to any of that, Phil had a test to see who was paying attention.
