Clacking with Julia – Seven plots that would make me Glee-ful

Glee's one of my favorite shows, and it's already amazing. But here are seven ideas of how it could be even better.

It’s no secret that I love me some Glee, which is why I think that they should hire me as a staff writer. Clearly I can already write as Sue, so why not let me take a stab at some plots? Because I’ve got ideas, and if I do say so myself, they’re excellent ones.

One: The big article becomes about New Directions
There’s no way Sue’s going to be able to keep up the sunshine, rainbows, and love act around Tracy Pendergast, which is why he needs to stick around and expose the fact that the real accepting club at that school … is glee club. The exposé would naturally cause major problems for Sue and let New Directions sail once more to victory, and Sue’s comeback will inevitably be what I can only describe as epic.

Two: More Artie and Tina
If you’ve ever been in one of our Glee liveblogs, you know that Artie and Tina are my absolute glee club favorites. I think they’re adorable as a couple, and I want to know more about them. All about them. How did they first become friends? Are they going out now? Can they please sing adorable duets a la Rachel and Finn?

Three: Who are Mike Chang and that other random football player?
We know all about Brittany and Santana, so why not the two other male members of New Directions? All we know is that Mike Chang is a human noodle and can dance like a beast, and the other football player guy just … exists. Brittany and Santana are such genius additions to fleshing out the cast — why not these two guys?

Four: Will has to chase Emma
Will has been slutting it up all over the place. April, Shelby… I’m ready for the tables to turn as far as the relationship dynamic goes between him and Emma. The only competition he’s ever had for her is… Ken Tanaka? How’s that even fair? For this to be the good and equal relationship that I long for it to be, Emma needs to become empowered and self-sufficient. I’d also like to see her get a suitor that gives Will an actual run for his money and makes him realize his own passive-aggressive issues and forces him to become a better man. For ultimate oh-snap factor, she should totally lose her v-card to this fellow and not regret it one little bit.

You go, girl.

Five: Come back to me, Noah Puckerman
Remember how amazingly joyful Puck is just by virtue of existing in his full douchebag glory? From him we get such gems as “Chicks don’t have prostates — I looked it up” and panty-dropping renditions of “Sweet Caroline.” But other than a perfectly-placed mouthed “Are you gay?” to Finn during “A House Is Not A Home,” he’s been pretty undercover. You know what? I don’t even find Puck that attractive, nor is he my favorite character ever, but I’ve been missing him. A lot. And I need more of him in my life.

Six: Even though Jesse’s a mole, he turns on Vocal Adrenaline
We all know it’s inevitable that Jesse’s secretly spying, and it’s going to come out, and the glee club’s going to throw a fit. But you know, I don’t want it to be bad. I want him to genuinely like Rachel. And I want him to really enjoy the difference in atmosphere between Vocal Adrenaline and New Directions. And so when he’s revealed, I want him to do a triple Benedict Arnold and help propel New Directions to victory. I mean, being screwed over at the eleventh hour is so been there, done that.

Seven: The return of That’s How Sue C’s It
This is self-explanatory. It’s pretty much the greatest part of the show. Ever.

Puck had a brief appearance in the Madonna episode complaining about having to see things from the girls’ viewpoint. Ee have only been back for a few eps and since we still have the whole baby delivery coming I am sure Puck and his attitute will be front and center soon.

Glee was my favorite. For about four episodes and then I started to realize how shallow it was becoming. Where’s that great tongue-in-cheek I once loved? The subtle character development? What happened to caring half as much about story arcs and character development than the quality of the musical numbers?

I agree on most of these, especially 2, 3, and 6, but on the whole, Glee has been disappointing me.
