Glee’s Terri actually has a point to be pissed with Emma

Terry dresses down Emma

I’m on the “Terri Hating Bandwagon” just like everyone else seems to be. And, really, it seems to be pretty unanimous, that everyone seems to hate her. Not without reason: She’s stupid, annoying, stupid, lying, and stupid. The character’s obviously written to be unlikeable, but I think its been taken a bit to far. It a shame, too, because its not the actress, because Jessalyn Gilsig is great (just watch Boston Public if you don’t believe me). It’s basically because she’s, well, stupid.

All that said, however, I can’t fault her for being pissed at Emma Pillsbury (before I go further, I will cede that Emma’s totally not fully to blame, as Julia pointed out to me in our Live-Blog/Chat. Will hasn’t been in completely in the right, either, but that’s another topic). As far as Emma knows, Terri is pregnant with Will’s baby … and, you know, married to Will. So, Emma’s constant flirting really is a bit, well, wrong. Just as wrong as agreeing to marry Tanaka. Leading him on is just as bad as trying to steal Will.

Because I know my aside above isn’t enough to separate Will’s guilt in this whole bad love triangle, I’ll say this: Yeah, he’s married with — as far as he knows — a kid on the way. And his wife is miserable. But if he wants to get out of his situation, he needs to get out. I’m pretty sure that will happen once Terri’s lies come out, but in the meantime, he needs to “man up,” to steal his wife’s words.

Other stuff

  • Coach Slyvester’s track suits are great, especially this week’s “poop” colored one
  • I’m with Kurt; I don’t understand how lightning is in competition with an above-ground swimming pool, either
  • I want a hovercraft, too, Coach
  • Finn talked about Rachel not having boobs (his words), but is his girlfriend Quinn really much different?
  • Maybe he’s got a one-track mind, because he stays up until Cinemax “starts showing regular movies again”
  • I really didn’t like Quinn in the Pilot, but she’s quickly developed into one of my favorite characters on the show
  • Loved the yellow dresses on the ladies (and I agree with another awesome participant in the Blog/Chat, Echo, that it’s nice to see the Cheerios in something other than their Cheerleading uniforms)
  • Tanaka’s proposal was actually pretty amazing, all things considered

While I’m not a person in favor of extra-marital affairs (see my recent Jon & Kate posts for that), I don’t know if Terri really has a point of being angry. Frankly, I think that anger is really towards herself as she realizes that Emma is really the better person for her.

I hope Will dumps her faster than the CW dumped Beautiful Life. However, I don’t think Will and Emma should get together.

Speaking of Boston Public when the hell is that greatly under estimated show coming out on DVD?!

I really like this episode, so many great dumb quotes.

I still agree with what my mom said, why doesn’t she just fake a miscarriage?! I know she is dumb, but is supposed to be Rose (from Golden Girls) dumb?!

One or two episodes ago, Terri told her sister that Will had “one foot out the door” of their marriage. She’s continuing to fake her pregnancy because she thinks it’s the only thing holding their marriage together.

Yes, and my point is why not just fake a miscarriage down the road instead of stealing someone else’s baby which is the dumbest idea ever?

I thought her stupidity was pretty much cemented in the second episode when her OBGYN told her there was no baby, and she asked if it fell out :)

I enjoyed the number of the guys a lot more than that of the girls. Mike had some nice moves! I was NOT a fan of the yellow dresses.

PS: Closed captions indicated Finn said Skinemax, not Cinemax. But, same channel. :)

Did I actually want Terri and Will’s marriage to work out in the end? Well, my opinions have been changed on that when Terri snapped at Emma today. I no longer have sympathy for that woman, but maybe if she learns that it’s not all about her soon enough, that may change.

I lost sympathy for her when she started lying about the baby to Will.

That being said, I stand by what I say in the post that Emma (and Will) are wrong for what they are doing, and Terri has a right to be pissed about it.

Since this is a tv show and not real life and Glee has a weird sense of funny, I really hope Terri dies a weird bizarre death.

Or, to keep her on the show…maybe she falls for the principal or something.

Terri + the Principal = Comedic GOLD

The only point I disagree on is Emma leading Ken Tanaka on. Ken’s fully aware that his girlfriend’s in love with Will and just settling for him—it was his brutal honesty on this point that got her to finally agree to go out with him. He’s hoping that her crush will eventually subside and she’ll stay with him, but in the meantime doesn’t seem to be under any illusions about the current situation and is taking what he can get.

For the Cheerios, I preferred last week’s cowgirl outfits.

You make an excellent point, and I stand corrected. I still don’t think that she’s doing right by Tanaka, even if his eyes are wide open about the whole situation.

It’s not just the stupidity with Terri that bites, it’s the stupidity plus conniving. If you’re gonna have a character to hate, it needs to be one that the audience respects and loves to hate. Terri, not so much.
Live chat was great!

My husband and I have been watching Glee since the pilot last spring. I love the singing and the dancing and the quirky characters. However, the thought occurred to me last night that the writers of the show are making Terri a completely unlikable person so we won’t care when Will cheats on her. If Terri had any pleasant personality traits Glee would lose part of it’s audience when Will inevitably cheats on her with Ms. Pilsbury. In essence, the writers are giving us an excuse to support cheating. If Terri is a total psycho and cannot be reasoned with, Will should get a divorce. Then he can move on a find someone who is not psycho. I will be quite unhappy if I am right, and he ends up cheating on his wife while he is still married.

Erin Starks said…when Will inevitably cheats on her with Ms. Pilsbury.

Oh just pluck out my eyeballs and burn them ASAP!!!!

I’m trying my best NOT to picture how Ms. Pilsbury would prepare herself for that type of physical connection. LOL

Look at you agreeing with me and calling me awesome. lol. But yes: I’m tired of seeing the cheerios in cheerleading outfits ALL the time.
