Really people, have none of you learned that you cannot judge a show based on the pilot? You might think I was the TV writer, for crying out loud … wait … there’s something weird about that sentence. Anyway, the title has been repeatedly bashed for its demeaning nature and tasteless sexism, and its been called “all over the place.”

So I checked it out — yeah, I did — and I have just one thing to say (not true … many more things): lighten up! It’s not demeaning; Courteney Cox’s character, Jules, is pathetic in the most tongue-in-cheek way, and there are quirky laughs throughout. Plus, Jules is a caring mom who is just trying to have her own life too — is that so wrong?

I think we all just need to enjoy Cougar Town for the fictional farce that it is. The quirk reminds me a bit of Carpoolers or, you know, something … funnier than that. The comic timing reminds me of  How I Met Your Mother and, though it didn’t completely click for me, I think in time it could develop into something fun and unique.

So stop bashing Cougar Town because it’s not politically correct — or classy, or whatever — to be a cougar. Celebrate that Courteney Cox is back on TV being funny, and it’s really OK for a mom to have her own life. And it’s fiction, so that thing with the blow job didn’t really happen and Travis won’t need lifelong therapy. For that, anyway.

Or maybe I’m just defensive because I am a year and three months older than Keith? But I look younger, and that’s what counts.

I wasn’t interested in seeing this at all until I saw that Josh Hopkins was in the commercial. Is he a regular? That man has me.

    I liked Carpoolers!

While I really don’t like the show name and originally thought what are they thinking-I now think it was a pretty smart name of a show. Everyone who has heard of the show knows “which” new show it is (modern family/community-which is which? can’t remember)

Previews look pretty funny and wasn’t going to watch, but now I want to check it out.

Plus, I like the actors on the show. Great to see Busy Phillips on a show again. She was great on T:SCC.

Pretty strange people find it demeaning when her own, self-produced show, “Dirt”, was demeaning to about anyone who was in it and their professions.

I thought “Cougar” was some kind of an empowering term. Women doing what men have been doing for thousands of years and being proud of that.

I think calling that demeaning is kind of sexist.

I wonder how many men currently criticize “Hung” for portraying men as too dumb to be a gigolo. But I guess as long as that story has a huge schlong in it it’s ok for the men…
