Taub dies on House – ya think?

Peter JacobsonOK, maybe that’s not even remotely true, but after watching this week’s episode of House, I have some theories as to why there’s a good chance that what we’ll be seeing is the suicide of Dr. Taub. Heck, even TV Guide agrees with me, so I can’t be completely all wet, right?

Taub’s been less than enthusiastic about his life this season — and that’s putting it mildly. His marriage pretty much sucks (he cheated); he wants kids, she doesn’t. His finances are in the crapper. We knew he rather liked plastic surgery but gave all that up for the wife, and now we know that his new job with House pretty much scares him … to death?

If the death rumored this season is going to have some effect on the rest of the cast and the greater storylines, then how can they make us care when Taub dies? A pretty good question, since we’re still all a little lukewarm on the new team. If Taub’s going to do it, he’s going to want House to suffer for it, so if it’s possible for House to feel guilty, how could Taub establish this? Off himself in House’s office? On the doorstep of 221B? Perhaps Wilson is somehow involved?

Another possibility: Maybe Taub goes ballistic and murders Kutner, since Kutner’s been the fave lately, coming up with the diagnoses and thinking outside the box. That would make the rest of the team a bit shook up, I’d say.

Or maybe, it’s all a red herring and Foreman does himself in (like Jen thinks), possibly stood up at the altar by Thirteen (there are rumors of a bachelor party) and tired of being House’s lackey. This would be huge, and it would pull in Chase and Cameron more, and would really welcome the viewers back to some of the old dynamics we so crave.

Who do you think will die on House this season?

I don’t buy Foreman dying, at least not for the reasons you mentioned. Isn’t this death happening next week? If so, there’s not enough time to setup a proposal, bachelor party and altar stand-up.

This week’s episode pretty much set things up for Taub to do himself in. This will cause House to go back to the shrink he’s been seeing that he says “doesn’t work.”

I’m sorry but I can’t get over you two talking about this here. I can’t stop chuckling it’s so cute ^^;

Hey Sebastian, that’s the first thing I thought. LOL

As for Taub, I wish he would go postal and shoot 13 and Kutner, neither of which I find remotely appealing. At least Taub has a personality. What a pain in the ass this show can be. They are not very good at determining good characterization any longer. Thirteen is a complete annoyance, and Kutner – who the hell is he? They haven’t even bothered to share one iota of information about him, so his loss would be welcome (to keep him from being the focus next season, if nothing else).

In any event. Booooo.

I couldn’t agree more. Taub is the only one of the 3 newbies who seems even remotely interesting to me. The problem with the other 2 and “the big death” is that I don’t think it would be all that much of a shock if it were one of them.

If the one who dies is Cuddy, Foreman or Wilson I think the show would suffer. Well, *I* would suffer anyway because I love all 3 of them.

It’ll probably be Wilson since I like him best of all the supporting characters and I always wished he had more to do in more episodes. I’m going to say it’s Wilson who does himself in. It’ll turn out he was hurting over Amber’s death far more than he ever let on and he decided to join her.

Sucky prediction, I know, but it’s mine and I’m naming it “Billy”. Everyone, say “hello” to Billy.

I can’t imagine a doctor played by Omar Epps committing suicide.. mainly because I don’t have to since he already did so on ER!

Kutner’s parents died in a car crash, that’s all we know about him.

The rumour was someone who would never think of, it comes out of no where. Right now that is anyone besides House, 13, and taub.

His parents were SHOT in front of him…they did not die in a car accident.

Sorry guys — there’s a poll in the post now that wasn’t appearing earlier. Cast your vote!

I just hope this upcoming death isn’t a “death,” meaning they die for just a little while.

I’ll go for Cameron to get those guys back to front and center.

I didn’t realize the death was supposed to be a suicide. I retract thinking it’s Foreman.

I’ll write about who I think it could be now– my answer immediately changed.

April 1, 2009 at 1:20 PM

Jen — I have no idea if it’s a suicide or not.

There is a rumour that it might be a suicide. It was started by Ausiello that someone on some show will kill themselves this season. It was around the time that the House people started talking about how “pretty much” all the current cast will be back for next season. Peopel put the two together and it seems like it might make sense.

We know it’s not Thirteen, ’cause the preview shows her with hand to mouth, gasping OMG at something… presumably the corpse.
If it were Wilson, it would kill the show, IMO. I think Foreman or Taub. Probably Taub……..

I don’t know who it will be, but they made us care about the death of Amber, so they must have something good planned for this death. I think it will be one of the three old team members. We really don’t care about the newbies that much, so I voted Foreman. No reason for him to be there anymore anyway.

Here’s a theory…Cuddy’s adopted baby dies, and that is the trigger for the long awaited House/Cuddy hookup. We already know that Cuddy not getting the baby she thought she would was the cause of the earlier kiss.

I think it will probably be Kutner. The older members of the cast are all too important to lose. Think about it, even after they were supposed to be replaced, they all ended up working in that hospital again anyway. And the show’s intro hasn’t changed at all. But that’s more than what we have.

Everyone left has a motive. Taub, we know is terribly unhappy, which can lead to depression and ultimately, a decision to end it all. Thirteen is going to end up dying anyway because of the Huntington’s, so there’s nothing saying she won’t get fed up and kill herself before her time. And there’s the fact that it’s supposed to be someone unexpected. Kutner really has no real reason to kill himself. We barely know the guy and that could be because they were planning on him eventually kicking the bucket from the very beginning, when he first joined the show. So, I think Kutner.

*shifts awkwardly* um, hello everyone. I’m new so don’t mind my stupidness-if there’s any lol. I’m pretty sure next week nobody dies. It’s just an emotional episode. The episode description says it’ll be a tough case because the two patients are husband and wife and one gets better while the other gets worse and the team has to make some tough choices. I could be wrong though. My vote for suicide is Kutner. The writers did say the death will be 100 percent unexpected, and Taub is really really obvious. It’s also mentioned that one of House’s TEAM members commits suicide. So I think Wilson and Cuddy are safe *thank god*; ) My second vote goes for Foreman, although I’d hate to see him go.

April 3, 2009 at 8:33 AM

I think you’re right — the death doesn’t necessarily happen on next week’s episode, just at the end of this season. They sure are teasing us with the promos, though! ;-)

April 3, 2009 at 8:39 AM

Kutner and Taub recently had a discussion on suicide, didn’t they? I can’t remember who took which side but one was completely against it and the other was more accepting. Anyone remember who said what?

April 3, 2009 at 10:37 AM

I just hope its 13, I can’t take much more of her.

April 6, 2009 at 8:23 PM

It’s KUTNER

April 6, 2009 at 9:13 PM

Gee… thanks Steve. Did you come up with that one yourself, or did you have a team of monkeys working on it for you?

Considering he DIED on TV right before you posted this. Thanks Captain Obvious!
