What a bizarre episode, and that’s saying something for a show like 30 Rock. Between Tracy causing a panic through the whole city, the writers tearing apart the office looking for Tracy’s stash, and Liz’s trek to get her cellphone back, there was a lot of craziness this week.
The highlight for me? That’s an easy one: it had to be Liz trying to pass off 99 Red Balloons as her grandmother’s German lullaby.
I really loved Tracy on Larry King. Mixing Tracy’s insanity with a familiar situation really works. Plus, the news scroll at the bottom contained such gems as “Tracy Jordan graduated high school.” Even though he whipped the whole city into a panicked frenzy over the Asian markets crashing, I think the important thing was that Tracy managed to plug TGS. Atta boy, Tracy.
I didn’t really buy Liz having an “adult picture” on her phone. It was funny, but I think Liz, of all people, would never have that kind of picture on her phone. I just don’t know.
I certainly hope we haven’t seen the last of Elisa. Salma Hayek has been doing a great job, and her and Alec Baldwin have great chemistry. It would be a shame to lose a talent like that. Plus, she stemmed the tide of overblown celebrity guest appearances.
Some great quotes from this week:
“We’re here with Tracy Jordan, who just recounted, by the way, the entire plot of the movie Teen Wolf.” – Larry King
“I was supposed to be in that movie Rush Hour, but two weeks into shooting I was replaced by Jackie Chan.” – Tracy
“Everything’s gone coco for cuckoo poops. Is that right?” – Elisa

Liz only had the “adult” picture because they were both pointing the same way for once! LOL Great episode!
I say it every week, but it is always true, this is the funniest show on television.
I often wonder if Tracy Morgan is in on the joke or if he is just playing himself.
