Lost in Lost: Season 5 title speculation

ABC

ABC

With every passing week, Lost creeps closer and closer to my TV (and yours). All the signs are there; If you missed it, an official promo was released. You can check it out over on ABC’s site. If you haven’t seen it yet, give it a look. There’s not much in it, but it certainly gets the saliva going for a big juicy slice of Lost. Mmmm… Lost… We shouldn’t get too carried away, though; we still don’t even know what timeslot the show will be in when it comes back in the nebulous “early 2009.”

The spoilers are beginning to trickle in, too, though, and Dark UFO is reporting the titles of the first six episodes of the new season. Is there anything that we can learn from these titles? Any little nuggets of coveted information? Probably not, but that doesn’t mean we can’t dig in and see what we can find. Beware, if you consider episode titles spoilery, stay away!

  • Episode 501 “Because You Left”: I’m thinking that this will end up being one of those titles with multiple meanings. I figure that it will relate to the troubles on the island for all the people who were left behind by the Oceanic 6. It could also relate to the break up of Jack and Kate, and how it affects the both of them, along with little Aaron.
  • Episode 502 “The Lie”: This is incredibly open-ended. My best guess is that this episode will focus on Ben, because, let’s face it, the dude is a lying liar. This could also be an episode heavy with Kate and Aaron. Afterall, she is lying about being the kid’s mother. Heck, all the Oceanic 6 are lying about how they got off the island.  So… yeah… this episode could really be about anything.
  • Episode 503 “Jughead”: With a goofy title like this I have to think that this is going to be a Hurley episode. Sawyer could also be considered a “jughead,” so maybe this episode will focus on his antics on the island. There’s just no telling.
  • Episode 504 “The Little Prince”: With a title like this I immediately think of Aaron. When you look a little deeper, however, there’s some more meat beneath the surface. The children’s book The Little Prince, by Antione de St Exupery is about a little boy who lives on his own planet. He travels around the universe learning about life and human nature. He finally comes to Earth and befriends a pilot… whose plane has crashed in the desert. Could another plane be crashing onto the island in this episode? Yeah, I don’t think so either…
  • Episode 505 “This Place is Death”: I’m guessing this episode will delve into all the “bad things” that are going on with the characters who were left behind on the island. We know that there will be consequences to the island moving, and things promise to get difficult for the islanders. Will Rose’s cancer return? Will someone else develop a tumor on their back like Ben did? Isn’t this title what the hieroglyphics in the hatch timer translate to?
  • Episode 506: “The Life and Death of Jeremy Bentham”: Finally, an easy one! Looks like we’ll be getting the full story of off-island Locke and his misadventures in the first half of the season. Seems early to me, put you won’t hear me complain about the plot moving too fast. As the number of episodes dwindle, we’re going to need more answers. Looks like they’re going to be giving us some this season too.
Do anyone of you have any theories based on these titles? Think I’m way off base? Set me straight.
