Reality Clack – October 13, 2008

ABC

ABC

It’s been another week of winners and losers in the reality games. And, I’m here to clack about the events! I don’t want any flack about my clack from those who don’t like the genre. After all, it’s right there in the title. See it up there? Reality.

Thankfully, it’s not a reality in which we have to live. By not being foolish enough to go on any of the shows, we can mock the people who go on the shows, pick favorites, and boo the ones we don’t like. That doesn’t always translate too well in real reality. Just try that in your workplace and see what happens.

That Was the Week It Was

The biggest news on the reality television circuit is the exit of favored-for-the-win volleyball star Misty May-Treanor on Dancing With the Stars. No, she wasn’t voted off by America, even though we’ve seen wacky votes before on these shows. She damaged her Achilles tendon during a rehearsal and had to have surgery on October 7. I hear she heard a pop while doing the Lindy Hop. Now, that’s no way for a good athlete to go down. The bad news is that Cloris Leachman is safe for another week. Not to be really mean, and I admire her spunk, but she’s not the caliber of the others on the show.

In the Future

RealityTVMagazine is reporting that the sixth season of Project Runway might be delayed until next summer. And, it looks like the judicial system is to blame. There’s been a preliminary injunction keeping the production company from moving to Lifetime (cable television) and mucking up the planned January 2009 debut. Apparently NBC Universal, the parent company of Bravo (which has been airing the show), doesn’t want to give it up to Lifetime all that easily.

Clay Aikens remains gay. So, little girls with crushes, give it up.

It’s been real, if not reality. Until we meet again!

I’m first! I missed the episode Wisit was booted off Top Design. I only watch the later reruns.

Great recap – very wimsical….

I actually watch all those shows you mentioned except the Paris Hilton one (I do have some standards you know!) I think the best exit was Wisit on Top Design. Instead of talking about his experiences on the show, he sang opera.

And he sang beautifully!

Boo to the delay of Project Runway. Personally, I’m already not thrilled about them moving to Lifetime which to put it as kindly as I can…sucks as a network. Bravo made Project Runway and vice versa. I’m afraid this is going to destroy the show between moving networks and moving to LA. Count me as one unhappy viewer about this whole debacle. Thank God for Heidi Klum, Nina Garcia and Tim Gunn…maybe they can still save this show. I don’t count Michael Kors cause I don’t believe the fashion advice of anyone who wears the same outfit on National TV each and every week.
