With Father’s Day just around the corner, I thought I would step up for all the dads out there and give you all some ideas of cool gifts that Dad will really like to get. I know that when he unwraps the tie, or golf socks, or the “landscapes of the world” calendar he says he loves it and is happy, but really he is thinking, “Please, just one cool toy to play with.” Wake up people — dads are just really big boys. Boys hate clothes and stuff for gifts. They want toys!

First up in my gift idea list is the Monogrammed Steak Brander. This thing is awesome. It is monogrammed so Dad can brand his initials into that perfect steak he has worked so hard to grill for you. It comes in both classic and western styles. The branding iron is 13 inches long and the head is 1 inch tall and approximately 3 inches wide.

griled asparagus

When I started really examining what I eat, I had a realization: I needed to bring more veggies into my life. I know that may sound weird to a lot of you, but even vegetarians can have trouble getting enough vegetables into our diet. In fact, a huge pit that many of us fall into is relying too heavily on carbs. It’s really easy to survive almost solely on pasta, and in turn, receive the majority of your vegetables from either doctored-up sauce, or from the occasional vegetable lasagna.

Even when I made vegetables, I was using way too much carrots and corn, and not nearly enough greens. I was also relying too heavily on frozen vegetables instead of fresh, since I hardly ever cooked at home, and fresh vegetables would just go bad. But then something amazing happened right when I started cooking at home more: asparagus came into season.

logoSpring is here and that means turkey hunting, fishing, Morel mushroom hunting and grilling. Steaks, chicken, burgers, sausages, corn on the cob — it all tastes better when cooked on a grill. I don’t care if it is a gas grill or a charcoal briquette grill — I have and use both. I am always looking for new ways to grill meat. And now I have found the blog to go to for everything BBQ. The BBQ Addict’s blog is all about grilling meat.

cheeseburger

Our Guest Clacker today is Jeff Love: Oudoorsman, Chef, Engineer, and all around great guy. To hell with the Rabbit food — I want to eat the Rabbit. http://jeffsshack.blogspot.com/

What is your favorite food? Mine is a cheeseburger. Where do you get your favorite burger? I prefer to make my own. I have yet to find any restaurant that can make a burger as good as mine. A lot of people think that a burger is the easiest thing to cook — just grab a handful of hamburger, smash it into a flat disk and fry it in a skillet. If you want a meal that will satisfy your hunger but leave your taste buds wanting more then this is fine, but if you want to experience the ultimate in taste and satisfaction, the burger is the most difficult meal to prepare. To start with, do not use cheap ground beef to make your burgers.
