Crock pot breakfast cobbler – Breakfast at Clique-any’s
There’s nothing like starting the day with a warm breakfast … except maybe smelling it cooking while you’re still in bed. That’s the beauty of this crock pot breakfast cobbler.
Another thing I like about this recipe is that it is so easy to prepare the night before. Let’s face it, no one really wants to be making a gourmet breakfast at ten-o-clock at night. What Keith and I do is dump all the ingredients into the crock pot when we are cleaning the kitchen from dinner, then we push the start button before we head to bed.
This is a recipe we’ve made for years, especially when we have lots of apples to use up. I’ve based it on this recipe for breakfast cobbler, but it has morphed throughout the years and we actually make it different every time … and there’s not really a whole lot of measuring going on these days.
Tater Soup is good for the soul – Redneck Cooking

While the weather out West here has been fairly hot lately I was watching the news and they were talking about how cold it has been back in New York. I also have friends on Twitter from Michigan and Wisconsin that have been telling me about how cold it has been there. As I sit here in Southern Idaho sweltering in the 100 degree heat, longing for those wonderful fall days that they seem to be getting back east in July, I got to thinking about tater soup. There is nothing like a hot bowl of tater soup on a cold day to warm you up and make you feel good.
Prepare a different Easter lamb (or three) this year
Lamb on Easter: I guess it’s a thing, as is ham for some reason unbeknownst to me (probably a religious one, eh?). My sister’s in-laws celebrate Greek Easter, and every year they roast a whole lamb on a spit. Add in a little tzatziki sauce and you’re good to go, right?
As fun as that may be, it sounds a little ambitious for my liking, yet roasting a leg of lamb with rosemary is just so … classic. Not that there’s anything wrong with that; sometimes, though, I like a little unexpectedness in my menu.
So I’ve got three ideas for you: they’re easy lamb dishes to prepare, but each one has that little surprise that will knock your — and your guests’ — socks off.
Eggplant moussaka in the crock pot – Recipe test drive

I’m sure you’ve all been there, so follow along with me….
You plan a crock pot meal because you know you’ll be having a busy day, and it’s so easy just to pop dinner into the slow cooker in the morning, right? So you find a recipe that looks good, get the ingredients ready for the next day, wake up and dump that food into the crock pot … or so you thought.
Had you read the directions closely, you would have realized you picked one of those annoying recipes that asks you to use a skillet and brown the meat beforehand, yada yada yada. What a pain!
But I set aside my annoyance and followed the directions when making eggplant moussaka for the crock last week, even though it totally screwed up my whole morning, and boy, was I glad I did.
Five healthy slow cooker meals
Are these cold winter days getting to you? Maybe a warm meal would help. You don’t have to resort to canned cream of mushroom soup to prepare a hearty meal in your slow cooker. There are healthy recipes to be had and precious time to be saved. Most of these meals are dairy-free and gluten-free too.
You can’t go wrong with Crock Pot Black Bean Chili — beans for protein and fiber, peppers for vitamin C, and herbs and spices for all of their numerous health benefits. If you leave off the cheese, you’ve got yourself a dairy-free and gluten-free meal. Serve with your favorite corn bread and a mesclun salad.
Crockpot Chicken Curry is loaded with zesty flavors, from fresh ginger root and mango chutney to crushed red pepper and cilantro. This one could be — dare I say it? — company food. Serve it over brown rice.
A good crock pot chili … at last!
Consider it the Holy Grail … I’ve been searching for a good crock pot chili recipe for a long time now. In true Indiana Jones style, I’ve fled from runaway boulders on food websites, I’ve sunk in the quicksand of cookbook after cookbook, and I’ve waded through the pit of snakes, finally to come out in the empty crypt of slow cooker recipes.
For some reason, every recipe that seemed to hold promise ended up cooking off all its flavor and I was left with an embarrassingly bland chili. The Superbowl party of 2004 still haunts me.
So finally, I found a decent base recipe and took things into my own hands, to come up with not only a serviceable crock pot chili, but a delightfully tasty and hearty chili that you’d be proud to serve at any occasion (even the Superbowl party of 2004). This is not your goopy chili in non-specific brown sludge sauce. It’s fresh and vibrant and amazing.
